Well let's see...where to start...a friend of mine told me about this consignment shop called KidtoKid, when I first went there I thought it was great and did'nt even mind the fact that it was an hour and a half away from home because the toys were so neat. Anyways it was not until I tried to sell some items that I got infuriated. The first drive down there I did not schedule an appointment so they refused my items and I politely juggled the stuff and my baby back to the car. The SECOND time I had made an appointment 2 months prior to this time and I had to wait 2 hours. My one year old was screaming, as I watched lady after lady go out with at least sixty dollars....I though for sure it was worth my time. So, after they gave the lady who looked like she had been on meth for a week another sixty dollars....they finally picked through my stuff......took TWO OR THREE ITEMS OUT OF ABOUT 30 and gave me SIX DOLLARS for some outfits that I paid well of $50 for. I couldnt believe it @holes!!!!! That is the last time I will ever drive that far to try and consign with those jerks. DONT GO THERE EXPECTING A LOT OF CASH UNLESS YOU KNOW THE STORE OWNER OR SOMETHING>....by the way I only wanted a store credit.

Just a note...

First question… Are you aware that you posted this response four times? In addition, are you aware of how frantic that seems.

You wrote a very long a thought out post with quite a few personal attacks there at the end for someone who claims to have never stepped foot in one of these stores; i.e. not very believable (just had to be said).

Last thing and then I’ll let you go ahead and “take this” again as I’m sure you’ll do… You expressed an issue with someone like Natalie posting on this forum under false pretenses. Well it seems to me that this person actually conducted a transaction with this store which means she has every right to post on this forum regarding her concerns with the service that she received during that transaction.

I wouldn’t concern myself with forums like this one all that much. There are so many other social media sites that one can express reviews of bad service these days especially when attacked by cyber bullies.

Have a nice day.

I am very sorry to hear you had such a negative experience at Kid To Kid Kennesaw.  My wife and I purchased the store several months ago. We too were customers before making the purchase and I can understand your frustration. We have made a lot of changes and I would like to invite you back to shop at the new Kid to Kid of Kennesaw.

Please ask for me if you are kind enough to give the store another opportunity and we will work very hard to earn your business.

Thank You,

Brent Brock

Let me get this, Natalie, you are upset because you chose to drive one and half hours to sell your clothing and Kid2Kid did not buy but a few items. If anyone reads up about the consignment business, they will realize that first, it is a business...period and as such can decide where, under what conditions, and from whom they will buy their merchandise. If you bothered to check with them or ask for a copy of their policies, you would have learned that they want only like-new, freshly laundered children's clothing that is within two years old. And even then they may only accept the more popular brands. In other words, they want to purchase and stock their shelves with merchandise they can actually sell within a limited time say 30-90 days.

From what I gather, this business schedules appointments for persons to come in with the aforementioned described clothing because they do not want a parade of people coming it at all hours of the day while they are trying to wait on customers and conduct business. Your having to wait that long was not a personal punishment designed especially against you (because you're so special). It was probably the first appointment they had because all the other slots were full.

Consignment stores have different policies for you earning money. It might be only 30% of the actual sale or maybe even 50%. They may mark items down after 30-60-90 days and you will only get the % of the actual selling amount, which may be different then the original sale amount. Some stores allow you to pick up the items on the 90th day and others state they will give unsold items to charity. I believe KidstoKids offers store credit that is 20% higher than if they gave you cash for your items.

So you are miffed that the store chose other mothers', who you libel by calling them "meth" moms, clothing over your, obvious only to yourself, far superior baby clothes.

BTW I've never been in a Kids2Kids although I have reviewed their website and policies. But I do understand the concept of "business" and "policies". This website is supposed to be forum for persons with true, legitimate complaints about being ripped off by companies and not a forum for people to whine because they don't understand certain concepts or because they feel personally offended and feel the need to denigrate a business that is trying to do business and stay in business.

Oh heck, you just thoroughly annoyed me. Your post was just so self-centered and whiny anyone could see this business was not at fault for *your* problems.

However, it would be nice if the store could find a way to accommodate the mommies that come into the store to sell their items. Either ban babies or offer a spot for the moms to be able to sit, buy a soda, and have a few things to keep the tykes occupied while the moms wait. It is *not* good business (after all they are the source of your merchandise to sell) to have tired moms waiting for hours to have their stuff picked over and rejected.

By now the business should recognize that there are people who "just don't get it" no matter how much you explain or put it in writing. And no matter what and how awful the things are, still turn them down nicely and take the time to re-explain your policies for the next time. After all the person you reject may end up feeling, rightly or wrongly, like this lady, but they are also potential suppliers for the future. After all that kid is going to outgrow whatever they have in the next few weeks.

Take the time to educate them about why you've reject certain clothing. Hand out a flyer with specs on it, so that the next time they know what to bring and will take better care of their kids clothing because that's a future money-maker on their back.

That, to me, is just good business.

CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE ALL THE TIME.

AUTHOR: K2kowner - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

LET'S SEE WHERE TO BEGIN.... First of all I haven't taken any appointments since before school started in August so I'm not sure what this individual is talking about. And here's the kicker, I have concrete guidelines about what I will and what I will not buy. The number one requirement that I have is that it be CLEAN, and I mean really clean like freshly laundered clean. My customers who shop here seem to really enjoy that the clothing that I do take is CLEAN, free of stains and fashionable. So we ask that the clothes are clean, laid flat, and free of stains or wearing. We also ask that the clothing that we buy is less than two years old. You really and I mean really, really would not believe the condition that I see clothes in sometimes. So I'm sorry you think we're aholes because we didn't buy the clothing that you brought in, that obviously did not meet our standard for buying. I know you were disappointed but this is business. I cannot afford to waste a hanger on something that I am not confident will sell. We weren't rude to you and we didn't mislead you or rip you off in any way, we didn't con you into going home an hour and a half away to pack up every bootie and undershirt that you child has worn to bring back. So this rip off report is really upsetting but what everyone should take away from this, is that we are super picky about what we purchase to sell in the store, not to inconvenience anyone or to hurt anyone's feelings, but to make sure that we have the absolute best product that we can provide!! We might be picky but we have great stuff!!!! If you have questions regarding our buying process give us a call and ask us. We are more than happy to explain it fully. 770-426-2395 OR check out our website which is also full of helpful information. kidtokid.kennesaw.com.. IN closing.... I would suggest to anyone who is going to try something new whether it be selling kids clothes or jumping out of a plane, to look into the details and make sure you have enough information so that you know what you're doing. I'm so sorry that Natalie from Talking Rock had a bad experience. I wish that I could say that it's the only bad experience had at my store but probably that's just not true. Unfortunately you can't please everyone all the time. We do strive to provide an excellent product for value conscious parents as well as a pleasant customer service experience. Please form your own opinions on my store.
