We were also scammed out of 595.00 for our 5 year old daughter in April of 2007. We were contacted by mail and called Tony Gray, I initally left him a message and was called back directly by him immediatley to set up an appointment. Took a look at two photos and explained the fees etc.We paid the 595.00 in full. Received a packet couple of days later, called Stephanie at Peek a Boo Studios, to set up an appointment for the head shot photos. I should've seen the signs when I arrived at her filthy, smelly, crappy little house for the photo shoot (that took place in her basement right next too the litter boxes..YUK!) I had a couple of questions for Tony after the photos. I left numerous messages too many to count.. it is ironic how quickly the response is when he is initally trying to scam you out of money, but after he gets his 595.00 expect to never hear from him again!! So sick to prey on hard working families that are trying to make as many opportunities available for their kids!

Don't blame the photographers

We used to be a photographer for kids.com so I have first hand knowledge about why you shouldn't blame the photographers for the kids.com issues.
The photographers were not paid any additional fee by kids.com. The only fee we earned was from the kids.com (the $20 you paid for the sitting). We photographed the children, and then sent the image to kids.com to be posted on their website. We did it because we hoped that the client would purchase additional prints or come back in for a full session/order (or refer us to friends).
We had so many people who came in thinking it was a way to earn money for their children's college fund. Many of the children were poorly behaved, didn't listen to the photographer, or wouldn't sit still so we knew there could be issues when they went to a "real" photo session for a commercial.
I don't know how you can get your money back, because there was no guarantee that your child would be a star/make money. The key is to go after kids.com, as that's who you signed the contract with, not the photographer.
