Kirby salesman came to sell us a Vacuum, part of the deal as they would shampoo the carpet, he did so and we agreed to purchase the machine, paid by check the same night he was there $1284.00. The next morning we looked at the carpet and there is aprox. a 6 foot square are where the carpet is dirty looking, I call it stained, they call it soiled. We right away called and canceled the check. That next late afternoon the salesman showed up to fix the problem area. Well about a 2 ft square area in the center of the 6 ft area is clean but thats it. (we were sure about this til the next day after he scrubed by hand). He took the vacuum back with him. That next day we called his office and explained and then a few days later a distributer shows up and looks at and says were out of luck because the carpet is 10 years old. and then the next day I get a E-mail from Kirby and here is what is says.
The independent Kirby distributor visited you and advised you of his findings. If you have any further questions, you need to directly speak with him.

The carpet is ten years old; experienced normal wear and tear and the areas affected were a high traffic area. The areas would also have deep dirt which may have been brought to the surface when the deep cleaning was
performed. This is called "wicking".

Wicking occurs when a staining agent gets deep down into the base of the carpet. When you clean any area initially from the carpet, you remove only the affected area from the top of the fibers, leaving a portion of the dirt deep in the fibers.

In other words, the carpet will look clean for a couple of days, then the high traffic and dirt will re-appear. This is a common occurrence.

Come on give me a break there was nothing wrong with our carpet until after they shampooed it. All I ask for is that it get cleaned right?
