I ordered a DVD for my son for Christmas, using a KMart gift card which I had purchased in my home town store. On Jan 7, 2004 KMart.com cancelled my order. I called the 800 number on the back of the card on the 9th only to find out my card had not been recredited for the purchase. I dialed through to a customer service rep, to be told that it would take 72 hours to show the credit. I called again on the 12th (three days=72 hours) and still no credit.

Figuring it may take a couple extra days I called again on the 17th to be told that I had used this card at a store. Well, no I hadn't. After being told I had used it on the 22nd of Dec for an online purchase and then also at a store on the 22nd, the rep changed his mind and stated that I hadn't gotten credit back and needed to talk to the customer service reps for KMart.com. Okay, he gave me two phone numbers, one of which is no longer in service. I called the other, to be told that customers have to call to request a re-credit on a gift card.

WHAT? Am I going insane? So, I ask why that might be, and if she really thought that was correct. I was starting to get a bit irritated by this time, and figure I am due some sort of compensation. She has no answer for me. I ask to speak to a supervisor. This same CSR puts me on hold then returns a couple minutes later and states that her supervisor (Leah) authorized her to offer me free shipping on a future order.

Now, you tell me, am I going to be able to use this gift card for this order? No, I can't because it's not credited. Am I going to give KMart my credit card number so they can charge me whatever they wish and not credit any error back in a timely fashion, NO I AM NOT. So, I asked her to tell me if she would be satisfied with this. She had no answer again I asked to SPEAK with the supervisor.

I finally got through to Leah to be told that that was they only compensation she could offer, and was there anything else she could help me with. I sat in stunned silence, trying to figure out what she helped me with in the first place.

I offered another alternative; how about recrediting the card and throwing in an extra $5.00 which would have been the shipping on the first order that was cancelled. She stated she would put through the request, but wasn't promising anything. I was PROMISED the card would be credited by January 24th, 2004.

Well guess what? It's now the 28th, I called back on the 27th, spoke to Stacy at the 800 number, she tries to get some answer from the gift card 800 and she states they are not giving her any answers and will have to call me back. I've not heard back from her. I get an email today, stating the card was sent for recredit on the 19th, but it will take 14 business days to complete.

In any other business, have you ever had to wait a full month to get a credit back on a purchase the STORE cancelled? KMart.com is a ripoff. A company that doesn't want to give back the money they took from a paying customer. d**n, maybe I should work for them, accept orders, cancel them, but keep the money. Sounds like a good vacation fund to me!
