The Previous post regarding conditions at Kohls Loss Prevention are true also in Northren California.
Recently a very unkempt, bloated and unhygenic woman was hired as a Loss Prevention Manager by Greg Hobson Division 55 in Northern California. The only reson I mention the woman's appearance is because we have a dress code, and this woman doesn't even come close to fit that standard.
Her name is MARIA FERNANDEZ and she is putting us all in danger because she doen't know a thing about loss prevention. In fact has done everything she can to stop any loss prevention activity from occuring. She has been a total bully and is on some rampage of fireing people, half the divison is gone and they are not being replaced. If anyone says one word she has them on her list to be fired next. I can not understand what's going on. However there are a few people, that have not been trained that do not know anything about LP, being new to this field who sit and play video games they have brought in and do nothing all day that are slated to being promoted. This appears to be some sort of new Kohls policy, these are the employees making $10 per hour. Meanwhile, Maria Fernandez who is nasty and threatening and is a bully to anyone doing a good job. No one understands why this is going on, merchandise is walking out the door to the tune of thousands a day and Maria is abusing us and tying our hands and changing policy so that we are vulnerable to the bad guys. From what you have posted, I am beginning to see that Kohls who recently hired us in their rapid expansion for really low wages, (because they could in this economy), is having second thoughts and wants to do away with loss prevention either all together, or perhaps for even lower wages.
Many employees of Kohls, not just Loss Prevention speak of abuse at the hands of managers. I have been told that people are having trouble sleeping, and maintaining basic functions. The stress placed on them is greatly effecting their lives even at home. These are not necessarily young people, these are experienced older people with many years of retail experience. Something is very wrong here. It is safe to say that someone is not minding the store at corporate.
As soon as things in the economy get better we are all leaving, (those of us who are not fired, that is) Kohls is a nightmare!

This is all true, Maria does what Hobson tells her to, even firing someone who was just hired because he sees her as a treat to his job. Hobson's one lazy dude. He has head of Company HR, Raphel pass on anything anyone says to him about Hobson. Hobson also got Rick fired. The guys a real jerk. He also was behind Julie loosing her job, and he has been super threatened by her forever, because she was a hard worker and did her job. He isn't so he saw the writing on the wall and when she was out on an emergency, and needed one more day, he got rid of her, working the whole time she was gone, and because she hired people who really respected her and were very loyal to her, he has gone through and fired almost all of them. Except me, I wrote to the CEO of the Company, twice, who did NOTHING, except fire Rick, who was a great guy. Yah, come and find me Hobson, I'll keep writing till I am ready to quit! Hobson is able to fire people by falsifying the information, changing the rules, he is the shadies character I ever met. He's sending these hoods around to the stores who make bad stops and it's just a matter of time before these people complain there was a bad stop, that they really didn't take anything, and there is a huge lawsuit. Hobsons policies are laughable, he certainly doesn't know anything about LP, he doesn't solve any problems, he just creates them. You get fired for not making stops, because you have to work with someone to make the stop, but they never schedule you to work with anyone. Hobson's a genius! He changes peoples schedules without notifying them and then fires them for not showing up. It's laughable. He talks behind everyone's back, has even gotten managers fired. I think it's because he's a minority and the company doesn't want to make waves, no matter how out of control he gets! They turn a blind eye. He has the highest turn around in the country! Kohls as a hole doesn't have a great reputation for treating people they hire with dignity, but Hobson's in a class all by himself. Do yourself and your work history a favor, do not apply to LP in Northern California, I have to stay till the economy improves, but those that he has set up to be fired have a hard time, it's ruined a lot of work histories. He just laughs about it. He has no class.

We need to get an attorney, we need to start a class action law suit, some of those that have been fired already started one.

Kohls on the whole has some real stupid ideas on running the company, and I don't expect it to be in business all that long. Prices are about what you would pay at Macy's so why not go there? They will alow you to return anything you eant, no questions asked, so you know the scammers are jumping on that opportunity. THey will steal something at one store and go to the next and return it, getting free money. No reciept required. I see this going on on a daily basis. Wonder who the braniac was that came up with that one. There are more crooks in these stores than honest to goodness regular shoppers. What a joke!
