I placed an order for a boat and tote (tote bag) that was to be monogrammed. This item was a gift for a co worker that is retiring. I needed it for her retirement party by 12/10. Before I placed the order, the expected shipping delivery date was 12/9. For over two weeks, my order status was shown as "processing". I called customer service explaining that if the gift could not be delivered on time then I would cancel the order and purchase something that could be monogrammed locally. I was told by customer service that my order had been processed and would be shipped on 12/5. I never received confirmation of shipment or a tracking number so I called again.

I was told on 12/7 that LL Bean would do whatever it took to have my package to me by 12/9. I was also described as a "Type A" by the rep. Lo and Behold....no delivery When I inquired about the delivery on 12/9 I was told that my order had not even been pulled for monogramming. What? I wad told that it was completed and shipped. The rep then told me that the other reps knowingly told me incorrect information. This was a special gift for someone that I needed for today. My concern is for the blatent lies told to me that lead me to believe that I would have this gift in time. I ended up bying a lame gift off of the shelf because now I had no time to do something special. This is unacceptable.

As I clearly stated in the report, the fact that I wouldn't have received the items by the date isn't the issue. I would have purchased locally. As clearly stated in the report, the fact that up to one day before delivery date I was told multiple times that I would be guaranteed my shipment on the 9th. I was also told that it had shipped already when it did not. I called four times and each time I was told that I could rest easy and that LL Bean would do whatever it took to guaruntee my item by the 9th. Ok, I rested easy and trusted them. Guess what, on the 9th I was told that it never even got pulled. What???? You woyldnt be happy either. And I was told ON THE 9th that even if I would have chosen priority shipping, it wouldn't have made a difference since it never got processed. SO PLEASE REBUTTALS, read my report first before you go on your self righteous bender .

Expected Delivery is not Guaranteed

So when you ordered what shipping method did you choose?

Since this was such a vital and important item, why would you chance it to arrive by 12/9..ONE day before you needed it.

It isn't like you ordered this on the 5th or 6th of December and choose expedited delivery.  You ordered this around Thanksgiving and were given an "expected" date one day BEFORE you needed it.  This wasn't a GUARANTEED date.  To most people that would be an indication they may need to look somewhere else or choose a faster method, just in case.

So yes it is inconvienient that you didn't get it, yes it is a bummer you didn't have it or the party, and yes they may try and make it right in other ways.  But even if they don't this is NOT a RipOff.
