I echo Teresa from Englishtown's sentiments. Read her post.

Louis was a fantastic salesperson. He redid our front porch. His workmanship was completely sloppy; there was excessive cement on the bricks that he refused to clean. Further, he miscalculated the height of our steps, and ended up hacking together a solution that will cost me $5000 to undo.

I tried very hard to get him to correct the problem, but he completely refused to accept responsibility.

He also agreed to route our downspouts away from our house with pvc pipe. At the end of the job, when I cited his failure to do this, he grudgingly scrounged up some corrugated black pipe for the job, and did not properly bury the pipe.

His support is horrible. I have since hired many reputable contractors for landscaping and irrigation and construction. All have heard of his company, and have unanimously warned me and others to stay away. It has been widely alleged that he falsely advertises pictures of other company's work in his print and web brochures as being his work.

I cannot stress enough how horrible my experience was with this company.

I would be happy to share my experience in depth with anyone.

Retraction

AUTHOR: Prashun - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 15, 2005

I retract my statements regarding L&M 'stealing' photographs. These statements are STRICTLY hearsay and unprovable allegations of other people and are therefore baseless. I hereby apologize for bringing this irrelevant fact into the discussion.

I was made aware of the recent reports that are reflected on your site. In the case of Ms. Hodge and Mr. Prashun both have been reported incorrectly. My company provides a quality service. In return, timely payment is requested. What Ms. Hodge failed to mention was there is an outstanding balance on their account. While I am sure you site provides a service to consumers, I wonder if there is a site out there that contractors who don't get paid on time or paid at all can report to. Ms. Hodge states that she over paid for her job. All of our work is done with a signed contract. It seems to me that perhaps her budget got ahead of her. If you study the picture attached you will notice that not everything in the picture is wet. Furthermore, Ms. Hodge's job was completed in 2003. We never received certified mail stating that there was a problem with the job. As the man from Florida stated, for $100 the problem could have been solved. I thank you for your site and the chance to rebute the claim. I only wish you had a place for over 642 clients of mine who have been more than pleased with our services through the past twenty years. Some people you just can't please. Thanks again because of this claim, I am looking into appealling my case. The unfortunate thing that wasn't said is that my company had to endure attorney fees based on false claims. This was not built into the bottom line of the job. I only can hope that Ms. Hodge enjoys her landscaping which included many more apsects than just a patio.

Document, Photograph, File in Small Claims Court

AUTHOR: Theresa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 04, 2005

We filed the paperwork in the Special Civil Part of the Mercer County Small Claims Courts against L&M Landscaping. The process is simple to do, and can be done through the postal service. Start your research on the New Jersey Courts web site; do a google search for new jersey small claims courts.

This company is still in business (go figure) and did appear at court on the hearing date. Be sure to have all of your paperwork in order, have photographs to support your claim, and if you are seeking a judgment for the amount it will cost to repair L&M's workmanship, then bring with you the person that will be performing the repair work. If you do not have the company or person that prepared the repair estimate with you so that Louis and his attorney can "cross-examine" the repair estimate will not be considered by the judge (they will refer to it a hearsay).

The total cost for us to bring suit againt L&M was $56.00 and this was money well spent. In the state of New Jersey, if a company is being sued for more then $300, then that company must be represented by an attorney.

Although we are still waiting for L&M to pay the judgement awarded to us, we figured the cost to L&M for legal representation in our case was about $2,500.

Good luck - at least you now know what company does not honor their work or commitments!
