L & R Locksmith Services Unsecure Intstallation - Double Bolt Lock Clifton, New Jersey

I called in the order approximately 9pm on a Wednesday(08/17/2017) with a situation. The keys to my home had been compromised and I needed to have the cylinder lock replaced immediately.

I could not get anyone to come until the next day. I should have moved on to another company then, but,did not. I was pretty distraught by now and just wanted to calm down. Of course, I did not relax, as, I felt like my home was not secure.

The "locksmith" comes about 11am the next day, after we called a couple times, as we were told he would be there around 9am. He gets there and brings a single bolt!

I am guessing this was an excuse to leave without doing the work. He left and after two more calls to find out what was going on, we were told that he had been in a car accident and we were left not knowing what to do.

I finally called to cancel the appointment, as my daughter had taken the day off and spent it waiting for him, and was told that he would be there withing 4 minutes. Approx 4pm.

Around 4pm, he comes back (same guy) and installs the cheapest version of a double bolt lock he could find. The cylinder barely fits into the hole. He saw the one he replaced, and after charging us $130.00, it's a disgrace!

Not only was the lock really cheap, the way he installed it and he didn't even bother to secure the metal bars. Th srews had to be loosened, or he could not work on the lock, so, I know he knew he should have screwed them back in.  He left them unscrewed, as if he planned to come back later. Really sloppy.

I called the company on Friday, and told them what happened and they said they would send someone out to fix it. Needless to say, they did not.

I saw sturdier locks at Home Depot for $29.99. I would have expected better quality from a locksmith. I would never use them again, feel I was left in worst shape than when he came. Atleast the initial lock was sturdy and my metal bars were in tack. I had to pay additional money to have someone else come to secure us.
