LA Fitness Ballys Revoked my membership without notice! los angeles, California

I was a Bally's member for over 18 years and had a lifetime membership with $19 monthly dues. On 9/23/2012, I walked into a former Ballys gym now known as "LA Fitness" and was told my membership was revoked!

When I had heard on the news that LA Fitness was taking over Ballys I understood there would be no problem switching over, that is not the case! LA Fitness now wants me to start from scratch and pay a new membership sign-up fee and in addition pay $29.00  a month.  They refuse to honor my lifetime membership where I paid $1,500 and monthly dues for over 216 months!

Moreover, I have been ripped off since I never received notice that my lifetime membership would not be honored at LA Fitness.  I never received an e-mail or letter in the mail.

When I went to LA Fitness the sales kid trying to sell me a new plan was not understanding at ALL he just said, "it is what it is"

Please if anyone can advise what I can do?  I just want my old plan to be honored and not have to pay for a new plan.  By buying Bally's LA FITNESS inherited bally's legal obligations and a had a duty to notice me whether their acquisition would change my legal rights;  by not honoring my agreement with Bally's, they are in breach of contract and are no defrauding Bally's members by trying to upsell them on memberships which we have already paid for.
