i was first a member of ladies workout express in attleboro and then ended up getting a job w/them. they did not tell me i would be doing sales i found that out after. they expected their employees to make cold calls to try and get people into the gyms, which is illegal in mass but they did not care they wanted us to put flyers on cars in parking lots, again is illegal in mass but they did not care they wanted us breaking laws for them, they wanted us to sell sell sell tell them whatever they wanna hear push diet pills that are nothing more than vitamins and promise weight loss. when someone needs to freeze or stop an account they dont get a call back for days if ever by the manager.more problems than u can imagin but the bottom line always was get them to sign.so if it comes time for you to sign think about it cuz all they want is your money, bank or credit card info whatever as long as they get your money. and their sales people work on commision so there not caring about you there caring about their percent. so i ended up getting paid min wage and having to travel to 3 gyms one close the others each 20 miles away no paid milage. even as an employee it was a rip off.please take my advice stay away.

I would like to take a minute to respond to some of the comments posted. I am a Ladies Workout Express owner. I purchsed this franchise with the hopes and promises of financial freedom. My intention was never to RIP people off or mislead. My intentions were and are honorable. I wanted to only earn a living and help others achieve health through fitness. As a consumer some of the rules seem unfair, but you did sign a contract. These contracts are pretty standard throughout the fitness industry.

I do believe though there is a level of humanity that must come into play as well. As an owner, when I felt it was a true need, that there really was despair, I let those out of their membership agreements.

Please understand though, people lie! I have heard so many out rageous stories as to why someone has to cancel the agreement. It is the many who ruin it for the few in this case.

As far as Lady Of America corporate, yes now they are the thieves! They lie to potential owners, they rob and out right steal from those who buy into there "system." If I had to do it all over again, yes I would prefer to have my 100K that it has cost me back! I was told so many lies, if only I had known. LOA has ruined the lives of so many families.

These owners of Ladies Workout Express, believe me are so well intentioned. Most are average people trying to live the American Dream of owning their own business.

I have followed their system, I have done all the right things. The concept is awesome, the workout is great, but the problem is we are lied to about the start up cost, we receive no support and have no branding. Branding that we were promised, support that we were promised! Owners do need to be present in the clubs, but when your life saving are gone, one must go back into the work place and make a living for their family.

So, go easy on the owners, you have no idea what they are going through.

I am a member of Ladies Workout Express. One opened about a year ago near my home. The place was great when it started, clean, enthusiastic staff, lots of individual attention and THE OWNERS STOPPED BY EVERY DAY.

No business runs itself. If the owners are not active, employees tend to let things slide.

I love Ladies Workout Express. I go at least 4 times a week, appreciate the fact that the routines change a little, like the music a lot, am happy with the sauna and tanning booth...BUT, it is not as clean as it used to be. The owners opened another LWE nearby, now, along with their regular jobs, they have two stores to take care of and they just had a grandbaby.

Now it is hard to find towels for the sauna. The sauna is not as clean as it was, neither is the carpet. Two of the employees there in the afternoons lounge around on the machines and complain about how tired they are, one plays games on the computer.

Would I stop going? Not on your life! The exercise is good for me, I hope they stay in business. However the moral of the story is, if the owner is not around the business does not run itself. Don't blame the product. The product is good but these are franchaises. Depends on how well people take care of their franchise.

ONE BAD APPLE, SPOILS THE WHOLE BUNCH

AUTHOR: Tonya - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 26, 2004

Julie,

Let me get one thing straight. I believe you said you were an employee of Ladies Workout Express. Correct? Great! I am a OWNER! I find it hard to believe that I would be uneducated, especially when MY club is one of the TOP 5 Ladies Workout Express clubs in the WORLD! Additionally, because we are a franchise and each are individually owned, it is very unfortunate that some club owners do not follow the coporate system or rules. Which makes us all look bad! As far as our agreements, when you join you are committing yourself and making a change in your life to become a more healthy person and you are also committing to pay for the use of that club monthly. When you do not pay, you are issued a late fee, when you become delinquent you are turned over to collections. This is the way the world works. Ladies Workout Express is not the only fitness facility that is ran like this. However, I am only defending myself, I do not know the owners of the club you worked for and cannot speak for their club. I do not think its right that you are bad mouthing Ladies Workout Express as a whole, you do not know all of us you only know what you know from the person you worked for!

Ladies Workout Express makes a living off fast-talk, dishonesty, and manipulating people into paying through threats and creditors

Who 's uneducated?

Tonya

In response to your rebuttal comments, it sounds to me like you are the one who is uneducated or just blind to the numerous complaints listed at this site against Ladies Workout Express.

Ladies Workout Express makes a living off fast-talk, dishonesty, and manipulating people into paying through threats and creditors. (Trust me, I have dealt with it for over four years.)

It is true a buisness must make a profit to survive. However, a good buisness doesn't have to resort to these types of tactics to stay afloat. If Ladies Workout Express is a fraction of the facility that it claims, there wouldn't be so many complaints.

And as for the "dietary supplements", LWE does market them as a "diet pill". Bottom line is a diet pill is a diet pill and a vitamin is a vitamin. If you purchase something that is advertised to help you shed some pounds,it really doesn't matter what it does for your hair and nails.

It seems like you don't know what your talking about.

DON'T LET ONE UNEDUCATED PERSON DISCOURAGE YOU!

AUTHOR: Tonya - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 22, 2004

First of all, just from reading this message, it does not sound like this ex-employee left on good terms. As a experienced small business owner this happens quite often. To whomever reads this, please do not let this discourage you from touring any Ladies Workout Express or Lady of America. I happen to know many owners that do care a great deal about their clubs and their members. My belief is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, it sounds to me that this person has no idea what she is talking about. As a member of the club before an employee, I'm sure it was quite obvious that all employed with LWE, sell memberships. How do you think the owner will ever succeed in this business, if they do not sell any memberships. Additionally, no one can make anyone sign anything, unless that person is wanting and willing. "Selling" is not for everyone, whether it be memberships or clothing, and when you realized it was not your cup of tea you should have quit.

Secondly, cold calls did not become illegal until recently, and are not illegal unless you are listed on the do-not-call-list. So high five to that owner for following the system, it works! Ironically, I have even heard people say, thank you for calling it was just the push I needed to get in here. Moving on to the flyer issue, its called "advertising"! Most business do this to increase their profits. Yes, profits, thats the whole reason why the owner opened this facility, to make a profit! The "diet pills" as you called them, are not diet pills, they are dietary supplements. You were actually right about this they are vitamins, they are vitamin supplements that used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise program help increase weight loss! If you know of a better "miracle pill", please let us know!! I take them, and love the results I get from them. Plus, my nails and hair grown like never before! Anyway, the bottom line is working out is a commitment and a lifestyle, its something you do the rest of your life, not for 1 or 2 months. Your health is priceless, don't let this upset, uneducated person discourage you from joining any facility!

Have a healthy day!!
