We thought we were getting a great apartment at a very affordable price when we moved in here. The ads showed nicely landscaped courtyards, beautiful pools and tennis courts, a full workout facility and clubhouse, several laundry rooms, etc. After moving in we found out that the landscaping was all computer generated and all community ammenities have been closed for years, and the pool is only open a few hours a week. But they still use these things as their main selling points AND the rental staff will tell you you are getting all of these ammenities.

The worst part is that a week after moving in we had to go out of town and our furnace leaked throughout our whole apartment while we were gone. We called mainenance immediately after finding out and it took them two weeks to come and do anything about it. We had to splash through our apartment for two weeks and the results of this leak have been devastating to our health.

Having water under our carpet for that long caused mold to grow in our floor, up our walls, and even in much of our furniture. With the moisture and mold came an infestation of bugs and ants. Again, we called maintenance about the bugs and they promised an exterminator- but we waited months before one actually came. Even the sealants and chemicals that he doused our apartment with could not keep all of these bugs from basking in the moldy, soggy mess our "cute" apartment had become.

We now keep ALL open food containers (even jars) in the refrigerator because ants got into every food in our cupboards and we had to throw away brand new groceries every week. We also had to throw away our mattress, some shoes, and all of our rugs because they had mold growing on them. Both of us have been allergy-free all our lives and have now developed a severe allergy to something in this apartment and have had very costly side effects.

The staircase above our ground-floor apartment is rusted out and the concrete is crumbling, also. Concrete falls from the upper floors, unexpectedly, and our neighbor broke her leg when she tripped over some that had fallen on the stairs. Winding Creek did nothing about her injury and has done nothing about the unsafe staircase.

We rented this apartment because it seemed affordable and the management promised us great ammenities. They even asked us to make a list of anything that was not right when we moved in, so they could fix it (the bathtub needed refinished, the closet doors fall off when you open them, the paint is so thick you can't open the bathroom door when it gets warm, and so on) but our one-year lease is up in a month and they have not fixed ONE single thing on our list.

Most of the residents here have small children and I am worried about the health problems they will have for all of their lives due to growing up in this place that should be condemned. We were both extremely healthy before moving in here but now our immune systems have been trashed and even extra-strength allergy medicines cannot stop our sneezing and itching so we can sleep at night. Please do not fall into the trap of Winding Creek Apartments.
