I recently purchased two 10 week old female French Bulldog puppies, one blue brindle and one blue fawn, from Laura Tassi in California (I am located in New Jersey). She shipped them to me via the airlines and I picked them up from PHL at 1pm on Thursday, December 27, 2007. The puppies had defecated in their crate before I received them. We got home about an hour later which I then took them out of the crate, proceeded to bathe them, clean their dirty ears, clip their long nails and wash the green discharge from their eyes.

The brindle female was very thin, but much happier than the fawn female. The fawn female was scared to death and didn't move very much. The puppies were very stressed out, scared, quiet and standoffish and their feces were very watery diarrhea in their crate; which was to be expected with them being so young and from their long journey from California to Philadelphia and their new surroundings. I threw the crate away because their diarrhea was all over the entire inside of the crate and the crate was broken and missing latches.

Being a breeder myself, I know that shipping and bringing a new puppy into a new environment does cause a LOT of stress which does cause diarrhea. So, I let the puppies rest and settle down for the remainder of the day and night in their crate in my home with dry puppy food and water, which they ate and drank very little. I had only taken them out to give them some lovin and let them go outside to potty a few times until the next morning. They still had explosive water diarrhea.

Friday, the next day, I let them play with my other dogs and the little brindle female was very happy, outgoing and began to play a little with my other dogs. The fawn female would just lay on the doggie bed looking sad and depressed. They were still eating and drinking very sparingly that day. I was very worried but thought they still may be totally thrown off from the flight and new home. I emailed and asked a veterinarian friend of mine about their diarrhea and activity levels that night.

The next morning the puppies seemed a lot happier; more bright eyed, playing with my other dogs, eating dry puppy food and drinking water on their own. My vet friend emailed me back on Saturday morning and suggested a bland diet of chicken, rice, yogurt and to try to get them to drink Pedialyte. She also asked if they could possibly have Giardia, Parvo or Coccidia. I then boiled up some rice and poured chicken broth over it and fed that to them all day Saturday. (That was all I had in my house and had no vehicle to go to the grocery store because my husband had our only car and was at his parents house due to a family emergency until 2pm.)

I emailed the breeder to inform her of the puppies status, that they seemed to me to not be dehydrated as of yet and to let her know I had them on the bland diet and if they did no improve by Monday morning, I was taking them to the vet. She replied with Chicken and yogurt will make them very ill if they already have diarrhea. You have to take them to the vet! I checked their gum color and lifted the skin on their necks every few hours and the color in their gums came back right away and their skin snapped right back as soon as I let it go, which to me showed no signs of dehydration.
The puppies did eat and drink more this day than the days before and did still have explosive watery diarrhea; but the fawn female began to have blood in her stool.

Around 9pm I let them go outside and when they came back in, the puppies health seemed to some what deteriorate since the last time I had them out of their crates and they were quite sluggish by that time. Their gums had began to get pale and the fawn females skin took 2-3 seconds to completely go back into place. I took them to the emergency vet at 10 pm on Saturday night. There they gave them IV fluids and ran a stool sample. They were both positive for Coccidia. The vet kept the puppies over night for observation and to give them IV fluids. They sent them home the next morning with Albon and eye drops for their conjunctivitis.

I'm proud to say that are doing 100 times better now!! I have emailed Laura several times in regards to this matter and her only reply was for me to ship them back to her and recieve a refund of what I paid for these two pups. How am I supposed to get a health certificate for two very sick puppies who KNOWINGLY have Coccidia which is EXTREMELY contagious? She'd rather me stress them out more than they already have been over the past few days and ship them back to her for a refund (which I'd be out MORE money if I chose to do that) than send me a simple refund for the rather large vet bill I have acquired from all of this. Stay away from Laura Tassi!!

TO ALL WHO HAVE HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH LAURA TASSI

AUTHOR: againstmills - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, April 14, 2012

Please contact the winnetka city animal shelter in los angeles county california at www.life4paws.org and report her please.. If you would like current contact with Laura and need to reach her please contact me at amethyst84@sbcglobal.net..  Laura currently has 3 dogs that are untrained, unsocialized, un neutered, and unregistered and unlicensed with the county of Los Angeles.. I DO NOT want her breeding for another litter where my dogs are exposed to her lack of care with her puppies.. People such as her should be put out of business..  Laura also has stated she has no intention of moving out of the San Fernando Valley area so she should be very easy to find....

Sincerly,

an ethical practice of all breeder's advocate!!!

Laura Tassi is a wanna be puppy miller and is an animal abuser!!!

To all and anyone who has had similar experiences with buying puppies from Laura Tassi in Northridge California let me give you a run down on her history and my personal experiece with her.   First off, Laura still resides in the San Fernando Valley area.  She is regretfully now my roomate in Winnetka Ca.   Her history includes having a breeding facility years ago in breeding Kuvasz, then she bought and shortly got rid of a Dogue de Bordeaux supposedly due to temperament issues by the time the dog was 9 months old.. She then purchased English Bulldogs for breeding and shortly stopped due to the breed's health issues and then she started a few years back with the French Bulldogs due to the increasing demand of buyers in this breed.

I personally met Laura through work approximately 3 months ago as she was once a client in a groom shop I work at and then applied as a groomer a few months ago and currently works with me in northridge.   She left her previous residence due to living situations with her last landlord, and she asked me if I knew of a place to live... Well there happened to be a room available at the place I am in and we also have a big backyard for dogs, so naturally I clicked with her.   Long story short ~ Laura moved in with her 6 month old doberman and 2 French Bulldogs. As time went on she would tell me these stories on how people who bought puppies from her had reported her over the internet... I wanted to help re build her reputation back into the breed because I have high standards for breeding sound healthy mastiff puppies and I only have litters once every other year beacuse I primarily show and health  test my dogs first before breeding.. I also enjoy my babies as pets and do not consider my dogs as a source of commodity for me nor do I consider my dogs as breeding machines as Laura does....

Laura and I had several differences as I soon discovered the more time went on with living with her and I noticed she     NEVER takes her animals to the vet for things that are obvious such as her doberman that had bloody diarrea.  I told her that could be contagious if it were coccidia or giardia and that she needs to solve the problem.  She still has yet to take her dog into the  vet...   her two french bulldogs ( 1 she bred and 1 she imported from Hungary)  are great with people but unsocialized and untrained and are dog aggressive.. She has been kicked out of dog parks multiple times due to her frenchies temperamemts.   The back yard is trashed due to her dobermans destructive behavior and she plans on breeding her 2 french bulldogs the next time 1 comes into season..

The other day I witnessed Laura making a fist and beating my 6 month old mastiff puppy for playing with her doberman puppy.  These two have been friends since the day Laura moved into the house.. She took her frustration that she had with me from our disagreements and took it out on my poor mastiff baby....  At this point hell hath no fury and I called 911.  This report turned into a civil matter and I had no choice than to report the incident to animal control.. I have been working with ac for a few days now and Laura has all of her dogs locked in her room so the investigation with AC in my hometown cannot proceed forward.

My point is Laura Tassi with Bullaby french bulldogs has a history or neglect, unethical breeding practices and now animal abuse.. She is also abusive with animals in our groom shop and I am forced to find another job because everyone I work with holds her in a high regard and they respect her talent for quality grooming, but she has poor handling skills.. She is a lonely depressed angry 40 year old woman who needs a therapist and to re home her dogs ~ in my opinion she should have no animals.....

Laura Tassi is also a runner. Whenever tensions rise between her animals being treated poorly, she moved out of the area and reeka havoc in another place.. This is a habit for her as she is a person who holds zero accountability for her actions..

For future reference if you ever purchase a dog in the state of california , please note that california holds a puppy lemon law for those who have bad dealings with breeders from california.  The breeder can be required to give 150% of the costs between the price of your puppy and veterinary expenses incurred after getting your puppy from the breeder. I highly encourage all with bad breeder experiences to visit www.akc.org and find the california puppy lemon law document, it is very much worth it..

Sincerly
Aginst puppy mills!!

Miserable and Unhappy...

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 19, 2009

Laura, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the way the human body works, but when one person does another person wrong, they are usually unhappy and angry about it typically looking for a way to mend the situation or make it right. When the other party refuses to cooperate, it causes more anger and unhappiness; hence this Rip Off Report. If you would have made this right from the beginning, I would have never written this report or taken you to court.

I'm not taking anything out on anyone. I am in no way shape or form a miserable person. I'm merely stating my story for other people to read about what happened to me and these poor puppies. You decided to rebut, so I decided to reply. It's that simple. I'm very sorry that you are not able to understand all of this.

On a more positive note, thankfully, I was able to save one more person the heartache of buying a sick pup from you. They have emailed me and thanked me for my Rip Off Report. That's all I ever wanted to come from this, is someone to realize that they need to research their breeders, get references and not just settle for the first breeder they find.

MISSION COMPLETE!! You're very welcome, Rajiv!! ;)

For all of you prospective puppy buyers a puppy is a part of your family and should be treated as such!! You need to ask for veterinary references, ask for personal references as well as new puppy parent references, get as much information on sire and dam as you can. Ask for references from puppy parents that have been to the breeder's home/facility and seen where the puppies and dogs are raised. Email other breeders that may have bought from your breeder. Ask the breeder simple easy questions about the breed. Finally, GET A WRITTEN HEALTH CONTRACT!!! Stating what will happen if the pup becomes sick soon after he/she arrives in your home as well as genetic disorders that may arise later down the line. DO NOT SETTLE for just ANY pup!!!!!

For more information on how to select a good breeder, please visit: http://www.akc.org/future_dog_owner/puppy_buyers_beware.cfm

Signed,
Miserable & Unhappy ;)

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

It's been a long time since I've gone back and read this report! I just now realized that Laura rebutted! It's amazing how nice people suddenly seem to become when the truth is told!! In response to Laura's accusations about me:

1.) Laura never ever asked about me, my home and never once told me she wanted forever homes for her pups in any of her emails. In the initial email I sent her requesting information about her puppies, I told her a little about myself and my intentions for the puppies I wanted to buy from her. If she was so concerned about where they were going, don't you think she would have asked more about me?? This is the EXACT email I first sent to her:

Hi Laura,

My name is Nikki Lawrence and I am very interested in this girl! I am a Frenchie breeder as well. All of my dogs have free roam of the house and are spoiled stinkin' rotten! My husband is very jealous of my dogs, as he should be!! LOL! I'm a stay at home Mom of a wonderful 2 year old boy, so I'm always home with my son and doggies! I'd love to learn more about this little girl! What is her personality like? Can you please send me photos of her parents as well as her pedigree or her parent's pedigrees? How is she with children and strangers? Is she registered/registerable with the AKC? I'd be happy to answer any questions you have for me as well. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Nikki Lawrence
Norever French Bulldogs

Then, she sent this to me:

Hi Nikki,

The blue fawn girl is out of Yana(Russian import), sired by Max(Hungarian import). She is a spunky little puppy, very playful, curious, simply full of life. She is introduced to people, kids, and my 2 kitties. She will come with full AKC registration for this price, and 2 set of puppy shots. My only request is to be notified of her first litter, and have the opportunity to be the first buyer of any blue pups she will have. Of course, unless you decide to keep it. I was contemplating of keeping her,but am a little overcroweded right now, and husband is not happy about the idea.;-(

Sincerely, Laura

As you can see, she never ONCE said I was very specific about having the puppies placed in a permanent home where they will get good care for the rest of their lives. As she claimed in her rebuttal. All of the emails after this one (which was the very first email she ever sent to me) were only about shipping and payment information, never anything personal what so ever! (I saved all of the emails we have sent back and forth, so I'd be glad to FWD them to anyone wanting a puppy from Laura Tassi!)

I implied to her in the first email that my dogs lived wonderful healthy lives in my home, as they do. I'm a stay at home mother and my dogs are my family. They go everywhere with us and are loved day in and day out! I gave those puppies a WONDERFUL home!! They were cared for 24/7 in my home with my other dogs and family. I nursed them back to health from being so incredibly sick!! I went above and beyond for those puppies and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!!

2.) Yes, Coccidia is very common in puppies and is VERY easy to treat IF THEY DO NOT BECOME STRESSED WHERE THE COCCIDIA ACTS UP MAKING THEM TERRIBLY SICK! Once they become sick, they may need IV fluids (as mine did), other medications, they can have prolapsed rectums from having diarrhea and the list goes on! If Laura had the puppies' stool tested before they left her home (as a reputable breeder should), she could have EASILY treated her pups for the Coccidia before they were shipped and could have avoided this WHOLE situation! Many breeders preventatively treat their pups for Coccidia because it is so common. There's no veterinarian on earth than can diagnose a pup with Coccidia just from a physical exam!!!! Coccidia is found in feces not on any body part, as Laura is implying. (Makes you kind of scared that someone this uneducated can be a breeder, huh??)

3.) Those puppies had diarrhea in their crate on the airplane and never once had a normal stool until they were on the Coccidia meds for a while!! They were diagnosed with Coccidia a mere 72 hours after I received them. Coccidia has about a 13 day incubation period, so there is NO WAY these babies contracted it at my home.

4.) She claims I called her names in my emails to her?! I was extremely professional in each and every email I sent to her; unfortunately I can't say the same for her. You can see an example of the names she called me in my previous Rip Off Report. She did not respond to any of the emails I sent to her trying to be refunded for the veterinary bills because she didn't want to pay for them. She did offer to buy the puppies back at the same price I paid, but I wanted to keep them and that wasn't an option for me in her eyes. I'm not sure why she expected me to ship these two sick pups, never mind getting health certificates from my veterinarian!

5.) Boiled chicken is used sparingly for dogs with diarrhea - more as a flavor with boiled white rice. Boiled white rice (in moderation) is wonderful for dogs with diarrhea, which is very bland and helps to firm up loose or soft stools. Plain yogurt is a great source for pro-biotics which does wonders for their digestive tract! You should always refer with your veterinarian before putting your dog on a bland diet for diarrhea.

6.) Being a dog breeder myself, I was expecting the dogs to be quite nerve wrecked as well as have severe diarrhea for a few days from the flight and move to a new home, especially for pups at that age. These puppies were extremely traumatized from their flight. They were skittish, nervous and shaking, so the diarrhea was not a big alarm for me. They were bright eyed, eating some and drinking just fine, so I thought they were just nervous from the move. I put them on the diet my vet suggested and when they started to signs of dehydration, I rushed them to the ER. I see nothing wrong with this at all!

7.) I bought these pups in the hopes of breeding them if they matured in the way I had hoped and continued to be healthy! Unfortunately, they were maturing very awkwardly and did not hold up to the standards at which I would breed, so I decided to place them. It was very hard for me to let them go because I had grown so attached to them, but I couldn't keep them when I am a breeder here to improve the breed, not breed anything that is physically able to be bred. Sadly, you can't keep them all. There's a lot of heartache in breeding dogs! I'm not sure how it was possible for me to bad mouth her when 1.) I have never written a false statement about Laura Tassi, unlike she has about me, 2.) I wrote this Rip Off Report about 6 months BEFORE I sold the pups, so I'm not sure how I'd be able to re-sell the pups, then bad mouth her as she claims, 3.) I was not out to make a profit when I decided to placed these puppies. They were certainly not worth what I had paid for conformation wise and certainly not health wise, so I let them go at pet prices which was what any reputable breeder would have done. I couldn't fathom selling these pups looking the way they did at the prices she sold them to me PLUS A PROFIT!!

8.) I did not go out of business as Laura claims. I'm not sure how she does things, but these dogs are not a business to me at all. They are my hobby and apart of my family. My family and I have had the pleasure of bonding with each and every adult and pup that have come to our home and we will continue to do so. Maybe Laura is referring to me taking time off from breeding to have our second child. Now that everything is well and going great with the baby, I am looking forward to getting back into my amazing hobby!!

If anything else, I hope that someone has learned from my story. I'd be more than happy to discuss this further with anyone wanting a pup from Laura Tassi and share the emails her and I have sent back and forth.

Nicky misleads breedres she buys from.

AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

I sold Nicki 2 female blue fawn, and blue brindle french bulldog puppies in December 2007. I was very specific about having the puppies placed in a permanent home where they will get good care for the rest of their lives. She insured me to give the puppies "a good home". 3-4 days after they were shipped she demanded embursement for a veterinarian bill which stated the pups had coccidia. Coccidia is very common in puppies, easy to treat, and can be unnoticable even by a veterinarian. Both puppies were examined, and given a clean bill of health by my licensed veterinarian before shipping took place. Did they have coccidia before shipping or got it after? I don't know. When I realized I made a mistake by placing them in Nikki Lawrence's kennel, norever french bulldogs, www.norever.com . I offered to buy them back once they are ready to be shipped. Instead she called me names in her e-mails, which I did not respond. Also, if you call yourself a breeder then why do you put newly arrived puppies with other ones? Perhaps, they got sick from hers? Chicken, yoghurt, and rice for puppies? Not even mentioning puppies with diarrhea. And why wait until they need to go to the emergency room? To make the long story short, she bought the pups for resale, and in her frustarion of not making a profit she badmouthed me.
Luckily, she went out or decided to go out of business.

WE WON!! We had court today against Laura Tassi, here in New Jersey (of course she didn't show up), and WE WON!! We proved our case and the Judge entered a default judgment against Laura Tassi for ALL of the vet bills AND for the medication to treat my dogs! We couldn't be happier and more satisfied with the outcome!!

Finally heard back from Laura Tassi... Pending court date

Unfortunately since I have posted this report, put a review on Lauras PuppyFind account and posted her vulgar, racist emails to me on my personal website for public view, I have heard back from Ms. Tassi. My PuppyFind review read as follows:

Rating: 1.0
Date: 2008-01-03
Title: Coccidia, conjunctivitis, lethargic & dehydrated!!
Review: I purchased two puppies from this breeder on December 27, 2007. They came to me with severe diarrhea, which was the unfortunate outcome of untreated Coccidia while they were in her care. I was forced to rush these puppies to the emergency vet and there they were diagnosed with Coccidia, conjunctivitis and were extremely lethargic and dehydrated. How she got a health certificate on these two puppies I will never know. Laura Tassi has refused to refund me for the rather large veterinary bill I acquired from the vet as well as the medication that is now required to treat all of my other dogs for Coccidia. Instead of a simple refund for the vet bills, she'd rather me stress these poor puppies more by shipping them back to her for a refund of what I paid for these two. I don't know any reputable veterinarian that would give a health certificate for these puppies as sick as they are!! I would steer clear of this breeder - she's deliberately selling sick puppies!!

Since Laura saw that review, she posted 3 false reviews on my PuppyFind account to try and get back at me. I had them removed due to their obvious false nature. Laura also asked PuppyFind to remove the review I wrote. Due to the evidence I provided to PuppyFind to validate my review, they decided to have the review remain public. When Laura was informed of this, she wrote these emails to me:

In a message dated 01/11/08 16:31:09 Eastern Standard Time, lolatassi@yahoo.com writes:

cuban skunk, I hope you will die old, and miserable picking up dog s**t! You are nothing but a sticky, little cuban skunk who is lacking intelligence, and class to do something better with her time. Good luck with your puppy mill, -Somebody so much better, and happier than you.

AND ALSO:

In a message dated 01/12/08 00:34:26 Eastern Standard Time, lolatassi@yahoo.com writes:

How many dogs do you keep in kennels you trash?

She also wrote this after she found out about the Rip Off Report as well as the page on my website to tell my story:

In a message dated 01/13/08 11:01:15 Eastern Standard Time, lolatassi@yahoo.com writes:

Keep making yourself looking like a greedy trash who is out there to make all the money backyard breeding, and bad mouthing others. As you know, anything negative will turn people away.

I think she should take her own advice on that one!

In regards to the positive rebuttal to this report - I couldn't be happier that someone has 2 healthy pups from her! Although, it is quite obvious that she has treated her dogs for Coccidia, THANK GOODNESS!! I really hope that I am and will continue to be the only person who has had a negative experience with Ms. Tassi! I'm unsure as to why she has decided to drag this whole thing out with me and why she hasn't even offered to refund even a PORTION of the vet bills to me. But I am sure she will get what is coming to her - what goes around, certainly comes around! I have filed a complaint in small claims court against Ms. Tassi.

Satisfied Customer with Different Experiences

AUTHOR: Ooze - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 14, 2008

I currently own the two male siblings of the two female French Bulldog puppies in the report. I purchased one on 12/29/07 at the home of Laura Tassi. Both male puppies and the sire were in good health and very playful. The first puppy was brought home and has been doing well; he was seen by our veterinarian, who examined him and declared him in good health; his stool was negative for parasites. We've been so happy with our first puppy that we contacted Laura Tassi and today, 1/13/07, I purchased our second puppy from Laura Tassi, i.e., the remaining male puppy from the litter.

Our puppies were born on October 10, 2005, according to the AKC Dog Registration Application. I confirmed with Laura Tassi that our puppies are the two male siblings of the two females shipped to New Jersey. While I cannot comment on the experience of the writer from New Jersey, I am able to say that I purchased two beautiful, happy, healthy puppies.
