Law Offices Of Bennett & DeLoney, P.C.; Security Check; Pizza Hut #13328 rip-off! They tried to extort monies already paid. Midvale, Utah; Hampton, Virginia

In June I wrote a check to Pizza Hut #13328 in the amount of $30.00. There was a mistake (I overestimated how many funds I hand in my account) and the check did not go through the first time. There was a fee returned draft of $25.00. On the 30th of June the same check was redeposited and the amount of $30 was withdrawn from my account at that time. I have the statement that shows the proof. I considered (rightly) that the check was honored and thought no more of the matter.

On labor day I received a call from Security Check, L.L.C. telling me that the check was not honored and that I owed them $45.00 which had to be paid immediately . They claimed that they had been sending me letters. I have never received a letter from this company. I was confused at the time -(why would they call me if the check went through?)-and said that I would have to check some things and get back to them.

In the next couple of weeks I received constant phone calls and letters from a collection agency, Bennett & Deloney. They said they were hired by Security Check L.L.C. and that I owed them a full settlement amount of $183.00! They wanted me to give a credit card number over the phone or they would take me to court for $500 or more. I was not going to do that. I called Security Check back and they were extremely rude, as was Bennett & Deloney. Security Check actually lied and said that I had told them not to call ever again. By that time I had obtained a copy of my bank statement with the proof that the check was honored.

However Security Check and Bennett & Deloney had been so rude and nasty that I was afraid to send them anything with my security information (social security, account number) for fear of what they would do with it. I contacted Pizza Hut #13328 and was told by a male manager (twice) that if I sent them the information they would contact these two places and tell them the debt was honored. I was also told that my security information would be confidential. Being a former employee myself and a longtime customer, I trusted Pizza Hut to keep their word.

I sent them a letter with the information and an explanatory note. When five days passed and I was still receiving calls from Bennett & Deloney I called Pizza Hut and was told by the General Manager, a woman named Dawn, that Pizza Hut could not do anything and that it was my responsibility. How is it my responsiblity? The debt has been paid, and it is hardly my fault that someone made an error and reported that it wasn't. I was given the runaround by Pizza Hut(five different numbers to contact after I contacted their Customer Care Line) and have not received any satisfaction and am at my wit's end at this point in time.

Someone has told me that this may be about additional fees to Security Check-but no, the letter from Bennett and Deloney states that this is about the $30 check which they claim never went through. From now on I am no longer a Pizza Hut customer. I will never order another Pizza from this company or patronize another Pizza Hut establishment. My trust has been shattered and I am through.
