SEO Reputation Management at its best!

In July, 2005 I received notice from the IRS of back taxes due and subsequent action to be taken. I contacted the Law Offices of Roni Lynn Deutch, spoke with their representative and then followed-up that conversation with several people from their accounting department, resulting in a $1800 payment for their services.

Since that time, I have received, on a monthly basis, continuous requests for the same information. Until this last request, I have submitted that information, sometimes paying up to $16 to send it overnight letter, money I do not have.

I have called and spoke only with a "representative", not an actual attorney, explaining my situation and that no information has changed - as I cannot find a job, find temp work, when available, but have not been hired, after many, many interviews. I even went out of state to interview for jobs in Oregon, but, again, have not been hired. I have no money. I am losing my house - got the notice of default and intent to foreclose yesterday by mail. My other creditors are calling me non-stop for payment collection - I am losing my mind; I hardly sleep and have lost 36 pounds since Jan. 1, 2006. My faith has been tested and my relationship with my boyfriend has become strained and argumentative - because I cannot breathe half the time - and the other half I'm crying.

I just got off the phone with their "representative" again. He explained to me that no attorney has the power to stop any collection activity from the IRS. So, why the $%#@ do they advertise that they will? Suck you into paying their fees and then the same thing ends up happening that would have happened had you not retained them as your council? I cannot get a straight answer - I'm not even allowed to file bankruptcy??? Why is our government not protecting me from not only them (IRS), but from these attorney firms that advertise and convince an individual that they can stop liens, bank levys and collection activity??????

My life is a total disaster and I will be paying for this for years. Had I known of this website prior to retaining that firm, I would have made my own arrangement with the IRS, they've done nothing to improve my situation and I am appalled that they advertise to the contrary - in my opinion, it falls under false advertisement and somebody needs to stop them!

I, too, have been noticed in letters that I receive from RL Deutch's office, that if I do not comply and submit the requested information, they will have no choice but to resign from my case. You tell me where they've spent the $1800 I paid, up front. I have received absolutely no resolution nor satisfaction from this company, only rhetorical requests for the same data. I am not happy and am seeking other advice on where to go from here.

Very unhappy and disgruntled that their are entities that can operate within the United States of America that ripoff consumers. Consumers who need help and advice and put their faith and dependence on an ATTORNEY, who cannot help.

An addition to Greg's good information on the IRS OIC program

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Greg, that was good information.

Of that percentage of people approved for the OIC program, it is actually less than 1% that get settled for "pennies on the dollar" as these firms advertise so fraudulently.

Most OIC plans that are accepted are at least half of the total tax debt, and usually involves a very long payment plan.

Most of what this OIC plan does is eliminate penalties and interest. That is usually all.

I had a freind who worked for many years in the Las Vegas IRS office and worked these plans every day.

Also, I entered into one of these plans after a well known tax preparer made major errors on my return 3 years in a row, and 8 years later I am audited. I was in the military on active duty and that is the main reason they accepted me into the plan. I ended up paying about 70% of the tax debt with no penalties or interest over a 5 year payment plan.

My advice to anyone considering one of these companies is to run real fast and don't look back! However, if you are really suicidal and decide to go for it, get everything in writing from them BEFORE you give them any money. If they cannot/will not put exactly what they can accomplish for you in writing, they are running a scam. OR, agree to pay their fee ONLY after success. I bet they turn down this request.

Run fast from any representative of JK Harris and/or Ronnie Lynn Deutsch.

What the IRS says about promoters like Deutch

AUTHOR: Greg - (U.S.A.)

This is the IRS warning regarding promoters of settling tax debts for "pennies on the dollar".

The Roni Lynn Deutch advertisements do and/or did in the past make the claim that they can help you settle for "pennies on the dollar", so, per the IRS alert, the firm mislead clients

Can taxes be settled by offering pennies on the dollar?

OICs must include an amount equal to or greater than the total value of all assets, plus future income. That total is generally the reasonable collection potential amount, and not simply an offer of ten cents on the dollar, or a percentage of the debt. A consumer alert has been issued advising taxpayers to beware of promoters' claims that tax debts can be settled for "pennies on the dollar." The IRS cautions that the OIC program is not designated to be a program for everyone with financial problems, and it should not be viewed as an invitation to avoid paying taxes.

Can I file an offer in compromise to delay collection action?

Once it is determined an OIC was filed solely to hinder and/or delay collection actions, the IRS will return the OIC without any further consideration. Taxpayers will not be afforded the right to appeal this decision.

A few other things OIC promoters do not disclose:

The IRS only approves 10-16% of offers submitted.

On average, it takes 380 days for the IRS to process an application for an offer.
