I hired Lawn Doctor of Lawrenceville in 2003 to treat my lawn. The agreement was for treatment of the whole yard.
I work during the day, and would come home and find that a statement telling me that my lawn had been treated with certain products and suggestions were sometimes listed. I was not seeing an improvement in my lawn, actually the weeds were worse, and I was complaining to my neighbor about it. She told me that she saw the service technician pull up, get out, put a sign in my front yard and then drive off. She just assumed he must have forgotten the sign when he treated the yard. I decided to keep an eye out for myself to see what was going on.

The next time the company sent someone to treat my lawn, I was home and watched from inside my house. The guy did in fact pull up, get out and walk around my front yard, put out a sign, and then drove off. He never treated my lawn, (front or back). When the guy actually left, I called Lawn Doctor to tell them what I had just witnessed. They were of course very sympathetic, but did not believe that one of their employees would do such a thing. I cancelled my service with them right then.

A few years later, I got a letter from a bill collection agency, saying I owed them money. I called the bill collection agency and disputed this charge and explained the situation to them. I never heard anything else about it. Now, 6 years after the fact, I get a letter from a law firm in Florida, stating that if I don't pay this $112.29 they are going to take me to court and report this to the credit bureau. I called the law firm to explain the situation to them. However, I still had to pay the money to avoid a larger legal hassle.

The gentlemen at the law firm stated he would make sure that it was noted that the only reason I paid was to avoid further financial cost and legal hassle. He also promised that he would note that I cancelled due to the company not fulfilling it's obligation to the customer. This gentleman stated he definitely understood as his own father had the exact same problem with his lawn service company.

So, if you have a lawn service and you work during the day, don't assume that they actually treat your lawn when they take your money!! Especially if you use Lawn Doctor of Lawrenceville, GA.

He was blowing smoke

The SOL for open ended accounts in Florida is 4 years. The collection agency was 2 years past the end date they could have filed for Court action.

Since they lied(shocking!) about what they could do, do not be amazed to find they have noted nothing on your credit report.
