I have tried to cancel my account with Leaders for months after they kept charging me dormant fees, monthly fees, surcharges, etc. I told them I was a new business trying to make it, so they lowered my monthly rate, but the fees for the credit card charges were increased and if I did not have any credit card charges for any month, I was charged an additional dormancy fee.

I spoke to Dan Cable, and when I told him I wanted to cancel because I could not afford the fees, he said they already renewed my account, charged me the $99.00 annual fee, and it was non-refundable! I said I wanted a refund and he said my contract requires that I send a cancellation notice in writing 30 days prior, and since I only verbally told them (3 times) that I was not going to renew, I could still cancel, but the $99.00 was still not going to be refunded.

I told him that was unacceptable and I couldn't afford it, and he said, "Why don't you just close your business then?" I slammed the phone down and called again and asked a customer service rep who the Head Honcho was.
He is Dave Winkler- so I wrote him a nasty letter to PO Box 1911 Camarillo, Ca. 93011.

I think everyone should send him a letter and share their experience with him! He should be flooded with negative mail and CC copies to the Attorney General of your State and the State of California!

LEADERS has upheld signed documentation, but is willing to help merchant.

AUTHOR: Sarah - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 23, 2007

Leaders Merchant Services sincerely apologizes to the merchant for the service the merchant considers unacceptable. LEADERS has not done anything beyond what the merchant signed for on the application and pre-application.

The merchant's main problem with LEADERS seems to be that the fees are too high for her new business. The merchant signed up for a merchant account June 21, 2006. She has been processing low volumes of credit cards each month, with two months in the last fourteen months where she did not process.

In early March, 2007, the merchant called LEADERS desiring to have her monthly minimum and customer service fees lowered. As she states in the complaint, LEADERS honored this request. The merchant claims that LEADERS also increased her fees, but we have no documentation to support this complaint. LEADERS did assess a normal Dormancy Fee in the two months that the merchant did not process, but this fee is clearly stated and explained in the signed paperwork.

The merchant then called to cancel her account on July 13, 2007. She had been assessed her Annual Fee of $99.00 when her account renewed June 21, 2007. She asked to have the $99.00 Annual Fee refunded and to cancel her merchant account. The Customer Service Representative told the merchant that she had an Early Termination Fee, because she did not request to cancel in writing 30 days before the contract's anniversary date, as required. Our representative advised the merchant that we cannot refund Annual Fees for merchants who cancel their accounts. Unfortunately, this information did not satisfy the merchant, although every effort was made to resolve this matter to the merchants satisfaction.

We would again like to offer the merchant a solution to her problem. LEADERS would like the merchant to continue processing with us. If she does, we will refund the Annual Fee as well as waive the Dormancy Fee in the event that she does not process in a given month in the future.

If the merchant does not accept this option, LEADERS is willing to cancel the merchant account with no ETF. If the merchant chooses this option, we cannot refund the Annual Fee. LEADERS welcomes a call to Corrie Fietsch, Merchant Services Manager at 877-538-3377 to let us know which resolution would suit her best.
