My firm leases equipment from a local vendor and we have been doing so for 20 years.  Our vendor used LEAF as the leasing company for the equipment.

About 36 months into the lease we were due for an upgrade and the vendor advised me to write a letter of intent not to keep the equipment.  That letter was sent to the leasing company over 90 days before the lease was to terminate.  That letter was dated June 6, 2014.  Of course, LEAF claimed we did not properly terminate and continued to renew the lease for three month increments.

After claims that they did not receive that letter I was advised by the in-house collection department, to send the letter to the asset management individual and she would forward it and provide us with a letter with return instructions.  That letter was delivered to her on August 29, 2014 by email (and yes I have evidence).  The letter was also sent by certified mail (and yes I have a copy of the receipt and the tracking number).

Needless to say the return instruction letter never came and although there were over 10 emails from me in this regard, the emails went unanswered.  The company continued to renew the lease in three month increments.

When we paid the lease in full in August of 2014, LEAF claimed we violated the terms of the lease by allowing the local vendor to remove the copier (as every vendor does and returns the equipment for you) and said they wanted almost $6,000 for the equipment.  LEAF REFUSED to deal with the vendor regarding the return of the equipment.

LEAF sent our PAID IN FULL lease to Advanced Recovery Systems.  I receive threatning calls almost every day.  This collection company employee said I was lying.

I have been with my company for 20 years. We have leased equipment since the day we opened our doors. I have NEVER encountered fraudulent practices as those practiced by LEAF.

This matter has been unresolved since August of 2014!

My next course of action will be to reach out to the NYS Attorney General's office in the hopes that they can help with this matter and perhaps take away LEAF's right to do business in New York State or perhaps I should explore a class action lawsuit against this company.
