My cell phone died, and I needed to get an address detail from home.
I used a Verizon pay phone. Their charge was 55 cents for 3 mins, but I only had 2 quarters in change. I followed directions for using my credit card to make a call. I was on the phone for 2 - 2 1/2 mins, so I would expect to be charged for 3 or 5 mins as a minimum.
Two months later, my CC bill showed "LEGACY 8006700015 $13.74"
Checking this website, it's clear that these people have zero ethics!
Couldn't get thruogh on the phone, so I've filed a dispute with the CC co.
And I'm going to ask Verizon why they act as pimps for companies like these.

This could have been avoided by pressing Zero and asking a live operator for a rate quote. Ofcourse there is going to be a higher fee for a collect call. The payphones are privately owned and the rates are set by the owners. So the next time you make a collect call ask for a rate quote it's not that difficult, it will save you the hassle.
