Legend Mazda - San Antonio ripoff San Antonio Texas

Just a warning: Read the fine print!!

My father was helping me purchase a Mazda Protege from Legend Mazda 2 years ago. He lived out of state, so all the paperwork needed to be sent to him to be signed and he was to fedex it back. Before the paperwork was sent, I went over the details of what I wanted with the salesperson. I was given a 6% interest rate and declined any warranties. When the paperwork got to my father, a $2000 warrant had been added on and the interested rate was listed at 9%. Luckily, my father called me to verify the information before signing anything (we had previously agreed that I didn't need nor want the warranty, so he was suspicious).

The dealership sent another set of paperwork to my father and this time there was a $1000 warranty and still the 9% interest rate. I was told that the interest was raised to 9% because I declined the warranty. I was never told why they kept trying to add the warranty on there. I was driving the car for two months before the financing was worked out and the dealer threatened to pick the car up at any time if we didn't hurry and sign the paperwork.

We eventually accepted the interest rate and got the warranty removed from the contract. Next time I buy a car, I will already have financing in place or, preferably, pay with cash.

I just wanted to warn any consumers to double check their contracts before signing!
