I paid for the shipment of two pallets and delivery to my door with unloading service. I was told it would be arriving on a Monday but instead get a call from a truck driver on a Thursday who said he would be here in 30 minutes ...then tells me he cant deliver here and I will have to meet him somewhere. So , I meet him 10 miles away at a gas station and have to unload the shipment myself because he didnt have a lift (that I paid extra for). I only receive one pallet when two were sent. Of course I was supposed to get reimbursed but after waiting almost two months Im now told to wait another 6 weeks. NEVER AGAIN will I use this company.

Freight claim filed on this shipment

AUTHOR: Legion Logistics, LLC - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 09, 2010

This customer hired us to move two pallets from a location in Montana to his location in Indiana. He paid extra for a lift gate on the pickup, but NOT on delivery. He informed us that he had a forklift to unload his freight at his location. To be clear, we are NOT the freight company that did the pickup OR the delivery. We are a brokerage service that connects customers like this to major freight companies around the country.

The freight company, Estes Express, did call him to set up delivery ahead of time. Instead of refusing to meet the company at the gas station and calling me to sort out the situation, the customer agreed to meet the driver. He unloaded the truck and signed for all the freight as "In Good Order," meaning there were no damaged or missing pieces to the freight shipment. A few days later, he called me to tell me one of the two pallets hadn't been on the shipment. I started the formal claims process with Estes Express, as well as having them check every dock between Montana and Indiana that the freight could have or would have touched. I also had them put out an all-terminal message to see if the freight could have accidentally ended up somewhere else.

Needless to say, the pallet never turned up. Estes is also denying the claim, saying that because the customer signed for the shipment as "In Good Order" and did not note any missing or damaged freight at the time of delivery, they cannot be held responsible for the claim.

I've honestly done everything I can do to help this customer. Once a freight company denies a claim, there is not much else I can do. And when a customer marks the freight delivered "In Good Order," that really leaves me with very few options to begin with. That's why it is so important to inspect freight upon delivery and be specific about what is there and the condition it is in.
