I ordered my contact lenses from Lens Direct over 10 days ago. This was not the first time I used Lens Direct, and as in the past I placed the order over the internet. As usual, after placing the order I expected to see my lenses within 5-7 business days; although many times I received them sooner with past orders.

After about 5 days, I checked the status of my order over the internet. The status was "not shipped." I also checked my email to see if I had received a backorder notice; nothing. On a Friday evening after their normal business hours, I sent an email inquiring as to the status of my order, in hopes that someone would contact me or send email on Saturday (Lens Direct is open on Saturday, with shortened hours). However, I figured I would not hear anything until the following Monday; which I was fine with. I received no word on Saturday and nothing on Monday. This, even after receiving a system generated email, after sending my email on Friday, that I would be contacted shortly by a Lens Direct representative. I checked the status of my order (I also checked my bank account to make sure I hadn't been charged already...which I had not), which was the same..."not shipped."

So, I decided that I would take my business elsewhere, seeing as how I could not even get them to send an email regarding the status of my order. So, I called Lens Direct on Tuesday afternoon. The phone rang 5 times and when it was answered I could not understand what the woman said. When I pardoned myself and asked where I was calling, she confirmed I had called Lens Direct. I explained that I needed to cancel an order and she asked me for my order number. After having just been on the internet for that information, I gave her the order number. She entered the number and then asked if this was an old number because the number was wrong. I explained that I had only placed the order approximately 12 days prior. Instead of asking for my name (another way she could have immediately accessed my order), she proceeded to INSIST that my order number was wrong several times. Why not just ask my name right away when there was a problem with the order number?

Then when she did finally ask for my name, she found that my order right away...the number I had, had one extra number in it. HOWEVER, instead of asking how she could help me with my order, she let me know AGAIN that my order number was incorrect; that I was wrong. Her entire demeanor over the phone was simply nasty. As a customer service representative, she should have been more interested in how she could assist me...NOT in making sure that I knew and making an issue of how WRONG I was. When I decided that her attitude would certainly ending up sparking my own, I asked to speak to a manager. She told me she was the manager. When I asked to speak to her manager, she hung up on me. So, I called back.

When she answered the phone the second time, I again explained I was calling cancel my order. She literally screamed at me and said that my order was cancelled. Again, I asked to speak to a manager...again she told me she was the manager. I asked for her name, she told me she didn't have to give me that information and hung up on me again. I'm not sure why, but I tried calling again. This time I simply asked to speak with a manager, to which she insisted she was. So, this time I asked to speak to the person that hired her. She said that was not going to happen. She hung up again. I've never, ever been treated so rudely in my life.

In the past I have purchased lenses online from Lens Direct. In the past I was completely satisfied and had no problems whatsoever. However, I never had to contact Lens Direct over the phone until this order. Unfortunately, I will not use them again because I cannot trust that I will not run into this problem again if I have to call them direct. By her ease of rudeness, I can tell this is not the first time a customer has been treated in this manor.
