So, this company has been calling probably for the past year or so. I live with a significant other, and both of us have had our voicemail box flooded with messages from some entity looking for a woman with the same first name as me (I spell mine uniquely, and I'm guessing this person does not) but the last name was different.

I found this rather odd. I had asked my partner if there ever had been someone that lived at this address by that name. He reminded me that before us, there was an Asian couple that stayed at this address in the early 2000s. Therefore, it made sense that there was no possible way for this woman to have existed here. So, the next time we received a call, he politely told them that there is no one here by that name, and there never had been. So, they kindly agreed not to call our number again.

Of course, they called about a week later with the same crap as before. Repeatedly we ignored the voicemails, thinking they would get it through their head if we ignored them. But one fine evening, while doing laundry, I am told that there is a voicemail for someone with my first name (and that was the only name given, a first name) concerning...what? Check fraud! I had received a threat for something I new nothing about!

I called the phone number given, but much to my dismay, I found that it was only a directory. They asked for an extension, but that was it. It was an automated service with no way to navigate through. I tried several times in a couple weeks and nothing. No possible way to contact anyone, and I tried all hours of the day. But the weird part was... I tried again one day, and it was different. It was a different automated service, and I got a live person. So I asked them who they were calling for. They gave me that phantom woman they've harassed me about in the past. So I told them, "You have already been told before that this person doesn't live here, and has never lived here. We don't know who this woman is, so stop calling me." Kindly, he agreed, and said my name would be taken off the call list.

We never heard anything for a few months. Today, however, we hear...what? A robotic voicemail, a voicemail with background noise a little too quiet for comfort, for the same woman. Again. But this time, and for the first time ever, I was given a company name. Never before had I known who was calling my number until today. And I researched this name. Do you know what I have found?

This company is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. It's a fraud. It's a scam. And they're trying to scare the money out of my pocket for a woman that, maybe, doesn't even exist.

I am so sick and tired of getting these calls. I'm sick of getting harassed. I just want it all to stop. But no matter what I say to them, they will not stop calling me.

I have received phone calls from a supposed IRS agency trying to negotiate the back taxes that I owe to the IRS ( I don't owe a dime) and they only give a first name when they ask for me. I also try calling back because the number was local but it was an automated voicemessage (which is illegal).

Also, have received phone calls from some sort of Fire Department Association, Breast Cancer Society, Veterans Society, all a scam. I decided to register with the National Do Not Call Registry and now just report the numbers.

Actually, yesterday a guy called and I answered the phone and he said "Am I speaking to John?" -- my husband's name -- which just proved that these people call from somewhere and hide their phone numbers with ones from the states. I mean, how can someone ask if they're talking to John when a woman answered the phone?
