I received a Billing from Lightyear Network solutions for dialing some phone number that my web research showed, was to an area code that was created and never implemented.

Lightyear Network solutions claimed I had made this call and they were Billing me for making it. They had no phone number that the call was made from, and could not supply it.

I asked repeatedly for the phone number this call was from and repeatedly was told the number the call was made to.

The woman at the other end of this call eventually said she would check the number the call was made to. After about four minute wait she came on the line and stated the number was not a working number so there would be no charge. Gee what a surprise.

I pressed, asking for the number the call was made from this is what I was finally told; The account was set up electronically in 2001, however they have no records going back this far. How did they know when the account was set up if they had no records?  They did not know who set up the account, but they knew who to bill with out a phone number? Really.

MORE BS: The bill was a second billing with added late charges yet I received no first billing.  I stated to Lightyear I received no first billing. The lady said,  there was no First Billing, as the amount was to low and they do not bill until they reach this threshold. HOWEVER she also stated, they write off billings under this $1.00 threshold. SO WHICH ONE WAS IT. If they wrote it off when it was under $1.00, why was I being billed and charged a late fee for the .90 billing.

This is the second of what I can only in my opinion, call a scam phone company, as a month ago a company called ILD Teleservices tried a similar scam with a 4.13 Charge on my phone bill. These companies may share information. It is strange two companies in the same type of operation would try to bill for their alleged "service"

Alternative service

The fastest growing and most dependable service in 97% of the country is Straightalk partnered with Walmart. I purchased a new Galaxy 3 smart phone from Walmart.  I paid less than $200.00, which included a car charger and headphones. They have three levels of payment prices: $30, $45, and $60 per month. I have the $45 package, as it is required for smart phones. This $45 includes UNLIMITED calling, texting and data streaming. There is no contract and no auto deduction from my checking account. Straighttalk texts me four days before the monthly service end date. I simply dial *611 and "auto renew" my next month's service. It takes approximately 90 seconds and I am provided with a confirmation number.

Of course, there are a couple shortcomings. But they are miniscule compared to some of the horror stories I've read on this site. 1) buy your phone from Walmart as opposed to Straighttalk. If there are ever problems, you simply walk in to the nearest Walmart and they fix it asap. 2) If you do need to talk to a Straighttalk customer service rep, you may spend up to 20 minutes waiting on line for them. Like I said, small potatos.

I have been a customer for six years and three phones. With my non-smart phones, I only paid $30 per month. That included up to 1000 minutes of anywhere calling, up to 1000 texts, and some data streaming. I can't remember how much, but how much do you need on a non-smart phone?

I have turned many of my friends and family on to Straighttalk. Not one complaint. I do not, or never have worked for ST or Walmart. As the average cell phone user spends approximately $78 per month, why would you use any other service. Last words: You have your choice of many phone brands. I suggest you get one that uses Verizon as it's carrier. Never dropped a call and have used it all over the country. Others have told me that their phones with Verizon have worked all over the world!

I didn't mean for this to be a commercial. But I think you should do your readers a solid and publish this! If you don't, then we'll know you are either biased, being paid off or Ripoff Report is indeed a ripoff. Thanks for your time.
