It's been approximately a year and a half since the issue and I hadn't known how to make it public until now. I groomed for Ainsley Vince when she came to Calgary for a Spruce Meadows show. On the phone she told me that she would pay me $100/day, plus &100 gas money. I explained to her in advanced that I wouldn't be able to stay in the hotel that she provided her other groom because I had a dog to take care of.

I woke up between 4-5 every day in order to get out to the show to groom and prepare horses. The drive took me approximately 45 minutes to make it out to Spruce Meadows every day. This went on for 10 days. After my period of grooming was compelte, Ainsley told me that I would get a cheque in the mail.

When I recieved the cheque it was approximately $200 less that what I expected. When I asked about the gas money, she told me that she had spoken to other riders and felt that what she paid me was more than fair. She also said that I could have stayed at the hotel with the other groom.

I asked my lawyer contact and she agreed that I had a verbal contract with Ainsley that she did not respect. I shoudl have gotten it in writing. For her to go so wholly back on her promise of gas money, after I drove 45 minutes in the morning, and up to an hour and a half in rush hour in the evening, was something that I did not expect in the least. I warn any others who work for her to get down in writing what she promises to pay you, and get legal support if she falls short.
