Linkus Enterprises falsified time cards and milage charts! Redding/Anderson California
I am also a ex employee of this horrible company. I worked an average of 10 hours a day and wouldnt get a pay check on time if I was to write the correct hours and milage that I drove. The milage that I was paid, was half of what the State of Californias milage pay chart was. I had 8 years of experience when I was hired by Linkus, and my pay rate was half of young little kids who didnt even know what they were doing!
The manager was a dumba** idiot who knew nothing and lied all the time. He had worked in every position at one time in a period of working at Linkus for 3 years. He couldnt cut it in ant position, so they made him the manager. Smart company, huh? That managers name is Ian.
The wharehouse guy who was about 80 years old, would say he gave us certain equipment each morning, and then would say we were missing equipment and charge us for the full price of the equipment, which is illegal since I was a employee. The so called owners of Linkus are just as big clowns as the people who run the place for them! The turn over rate for Linkus is about 90%, because they dont get paid! If I was ever contacted for a lawsuite against them, I would join right away.

I must say that the people in my workshop/warehouse have been wonderful people and I enjoy knowing them. My issues, however, lie in the policies of the company and general managers.
LinkUS is a company whose primary motivating force is fear and the anxiety it produces. It's salesmen sell unrealistic expectations to customers and do not even attempt to educate them to what they are buying exactly. It becomes a climate of "passing the buck" in which some one passes their own failures onto however has their name attached the account.
Recently the company instituted a policy that would give you three warnings and then termination if your CSAT scores fell below 9.3 out of 10. Given the nature of the customer's expectations, the limitations of reality, their own psychopathic tendencies, it is only a matter of time till you fall victim to policies like this.
There are many issues I have with: phone lines, inaccessible company trucks and undue stress on personal resources, pitiful pay system, pressure to falsify time cards, failure to compensate for work done, long inhumane hours, and the draconian retribution system they use to enforce their litany of offenses. Unionizing would solve many of these problems but they use indoctrination and fear to stifle the battle for employee's rights. However, there is a standing policy among management to report anyone mentioning "Union" thus labeling them as an "instigator" and for subsequent termination. We even had the district manager come down and give a speal about why we don't need a union.
Times are tough I realize this. However, this company takes advantage of that social issue and uses it as a justification for mistreating its employees and dubious business practices. I am an Iraq war vet with 5+ years of communications experience and nearly 2 college degrees. It is something for me to say that I would rather return for a full year of Iraq, than spend another week doing this, considering I have PTSD and am taking a crapload of prozac (that is just not cutting it here.) Today, I turn in my paper work and let my FSM know that tomorrow I am turning in my equipment and resiging. Wish me luck!

Stop whining and do something about it!

All of you guys get on here and whine about how horrible Linkus is. Well there comes a time when you have to shut up, and put up. This company only cares about making money, they could care less about you, your family, or your dog. They say their focus is on customer service! That is in no way, shape, or form true. They need to hit certain numbers for completions, csat, connectivity, and tc's. The better their numbers the more money they make. It is simple greed.
Technicians make all the money Linkus gets, If for 3 days all techs decided to strike, it would severely hurt Linkus. The key word there is ALL techs. If they were to lose operations in their 5 largest offices (Fresno, Vegas, Modesto, Bakersfield, and Visalia)They would be hurt. Technicians enable them to do what they do. The PFP program, is a joke. The PFP program is designed to keep techs pay to a minimum. If you don't believe it, keep track of your jobs for an entire PFP period, calculate your numbers, at the end see if your total completions, tc's, connectivity, and csat matches what they say you did. IT WILL NEVER ADD UP. If your pay gets dropped, you get dropped in .34 increments, however an increase only increases you .17. So if your pay is dropped, you would have to bust your a** extra hard at a lower pay for at least 2 months to get back where you were, and then there is still no guarantee you will get back to where you were. In the mean time you still have bills to pay.
Some of you guys are blaming FSM's, Lat's, and Rat's. The fact is they are under more pressure than the techs, and get paid sh*tty. Yes there are some dumb a** FSM's, Lat's, and Rat's. One thing you should remember is most of them are in the position, because they couldn't make it as techs, so they become puppets of the greed. If any one remembers the "JUMP TEAMS" that went around to different offices. The team consisted of FSM's, Lat's, and Rat's. That team created more TC's, and low completion rates than any crew of techs. Some offices are still seeing the effects. I know I hate to go to one of their trouble calls, I usually give it to one of the new guys that doesn't know any better.
So stand up for yourselves, and stop being soap opera pussies. I'm willing to go the distance, but all techs have to be on board for it to be effective. Take it too them, "Come strong or don't come at all". Remember you can not be fired for attempting to unionize, it is your right.
Communicate through this site for now, no mention of dates, or actions, because they (Linkus) monitor this site, and all comments. We can establish a more secure way to communicate soon.
All techs include those at the smaller offices that do about 20 jobs a week. You guys stand up too, then you will have something to pat yourselves on the back for, cause I do more than 20 jobs a week by my self.

I have been installing Dish Network for close to 10 years now. I started as an Echostar employee when Dish Network opened a Dish Network service center(DNSC) in Santa Clara. By 2004, I was an FSS level III senior tech with several service awards for continued outstanding superior performance. I became a contractor and then an authorized Dish Network Retailer in 2005. I have contracted out to various Dish retailers and vendors throughout the country and enjoyed a great repoire with every one of them.
Because of the economic collapse our nation faces today, I had no choice but to work for someone else again-hence enter Linkus enterprizes. I was hired in November 2009 in the Castroville office and Fresno being our regional office. Shortly after my hire date, I was recognized nationally as one in the top 5 techs on phone connectivity being the first tech in this office to ever getting this recognition. All my numbers are good and reflect the calibre and pride I take in my trade but dont really tell the whole story. It's the little everyday things I do for my customers like going the extra mile and making sure that on all upgrades & service calls I call DASH and see if they're elligible for HBO/Showtime free for 3 months. I also look to see how long they've been a customer and if it's a trouble call and they've been without service I make sure Dish credits their acct for the duration of outage-these simple steps I take my customers do not expect but are very pleased and surprized. I know it must sound like I'm tootin' my own horn and maybe in a sense, I am, but more importantly, it reflects just how much I love what I do and how I strive to be the best at what I do.
Now I will address my grievences. The morale is dropping like a cinder block from a 3 story building. The pettiness of our FSM's is beyond rediculous! We used to enjoy having a bathroom but since one tech pee'd on the wall, the FSMs decided to keep it locked at all times not allowing us the use of the facilities yet they have their restroom key on their keyrings and use the restroom whenever they need while treating us like second class citizens forcing us to relieve ourselves behind the dumpster or behing the building. Taking the easy way out instead of addressing the issue of solving the problem, they've created bigger problems. I have complained to them to their faces and I'm called a "Cry baby". Now they can call me names if they want to, that does not bother me. It only reflects their lack of management skills. It's funny though, that when Leonard and John Daly were there one day, the bathrooms were mysteriously unlocked...hmmm.
That bathroom issue is just one of many examples of very poor imature management in this office. Every tech and wherehouse person agrees these actions are ridiculous. Instead of addressing the issues head on, they just punish everyone(except themselves, of course) by taking the easy way out.
We used to have tables & chairs for preparing our paperwork/route order/work orders for the day but either one of the FSMs or the trainer got tired of picking up paper clips or something off the floor and just took it all away from us right out of the blue. No meeting to address this. No warning. Not even a 3 strikes you're out. If I was an FSM, First and foremost, I'd recognize accountability and realize as an FSM, I'm responsible for the cleanliness of our shop(Same goes for the bathroom so really it wouldn't be and issue to pass the buck onto the techs). Second, I'd confir with the other FSMs to make sure we're on the same page before we bring it to everyone elses attention in a meeting and that if everyone cant seem to pick up after themselves then assign one person a day to sweep the warehouse floor(or clean the restroom). BAMMMM!!! Problem solved.
But, as it is now, during our meetings we all are forced to sit on the floor just like kindergarden kids. Well, for cryin' out loud, imagine that!
These are just the tips of the proverbial iceburg. Most of which have already been addressed on this website such as timecards and pay-per-point decreases if your numbers go down(which is very illegal, by th way, just look it up, do your homework).
My problems have to do with most of us techs at this shop bust our balls to produce the numbers that make the FSMs look good and we most certainly have and they repay us with petty BS behavior and the wonder why our morale has dropped like a brick.
Now, Llaura(if that's how you spell it), I couldnt agree more with your comments; "Our Forefathers would be disgraced..." if, in fact, you are referring to the ones who continually file false claims whether it's a liability, worker's comp, or any other fraudulent claim for there is an epidemic of people looking to get their "meal ticket" rather than work hard for a living. My wife is a claims administrator/investigator for a multi-national company and has been for 15 years now so I know what you mean, but, by the semi-hostile tone in which you said it, it is obvious to me that you are being a little too quick to group us all into that catagory. It's clear to me you've never been victomized & screwed over by an employer yet. As for my work ethics, they are the best. Handed down to me by my father who instilled in me that if you want something, you WORK for it. Dont ever expect a handout! He also used to always say to me, "If you're going to do a job, do it right, do your very best". Later on in life he taught me the value of treating people right & the value of customer service, something our nation seems to be losing grasp of more and more these days as big corporations get bigger and government regulations put the squeeze on small businesses til someday soon small businesses will be a thing a past. And sadly, as the economy worsens, the corporations feel brazen enough to hang the "Be glad you still work here" or my favorite, "There's plenty more waiting in line to fill your job" over our heads causing poor morale instead of encourging the good employees to keep doing good. Sad, sad, sad.

Laura must be the happiest person at Linkus
AUTHOR: Takeofftheblinders - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Friday, January 22, 2010
First I would like to say, I haven't heard anything here that I haven't seen happen. I have seen racism as recently as today. A white tech vs a Hispanic tech. When the Mexican born tech told the white tech to watch his mouth, the white FSM threatened to suspend the Hispanic tech, never saying a word to the white technician. This particular office has had a African American FSM, a Mexican FSM, a African American warehouse lead. All were replaced with white American males, 2 of which recently quit, because they didn't like a lot of the garbage Linkus was pulling.
Laura..it must be great to be you! Never a short or late paycheck. I would bet my check would never be short or late, if I worked 10 - 20 feet from JD, and within 50 feet of HG. You're very sheltered and have developed a false sense of security. Do you remember Halloween 2007? That was the day Linkus decided all office employees were expendable, No warning, no Hey Thanks. That was when Payroll stated they could do the jobs of all the office employees from all offices with 5 payroll employees.
To make a long story short, Linkus has a lot of problems, No one in the company can deny that. As long as people like yourself try to deny it and look the other way, nothing will change. Technicians will still be treated like crap, FSM's and Lat's will still be the fall guys. An unwritten rule at Linkus, is called "passing the blame". If you screw up, blame someone else. And by the way, payroll screws up at least 2 techs checks a week. So you should consider yourself fortunate, you have never had a bad or late check.
I am down on Linkus because of the problems they have, but I stick with it because I know I can help in making it better. SO ALL OF YOU TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS, and start pushing back, to make your company a better place to work. Remember every business is in business to make money, so don't fault Linkus for making money. Fault them for the treatment of their employees. They need to realize the technicians, FSM's, and LAT's keep them in business. If the foundation of the building your business was housed in, started to crumble. Would you squirt a little glue at it, and go back to what you were doing, before you noticed the 5" wide crack?

Yes, Llaura2002. I believe it when say that you have been there for eight years, and things are great. But you work at one of the corporate headquarters of LinkUs. Of course things will be good there. Yes, they do offer great benefits, and I am glad that you have had a great experience with them. But when I get let go, because I called in sick one day(only because I worked 2 weeks straight from 6:30am to 4:00pm in freezing cold warehouse conditions), and was misled by the hiring manager about my pay rate, I think that justifies a problem.
I am not saying everyone has gone through what I went through, but that is what this website is for. For employees, ex-employees, etc., to point out fraudulent activity within corporations today. I believe it was probably the Enron scandal that got people all fired up, and that's why there are a crop of consumer/employee protection websites available these days. I hope your stay at LinkUs continues to be a good and fair experience, but I made the wrong choice by choosing them over an audit company that I had been hired by 2 weeks earlier, while I was waiting for the LinkUs hiring manager to get back to me.
3 weeks went by, and after no returned phone calls or emails, I gave up and went with another company, by the way paid 4 dollars an hour more. It was only going to be 25-35 hours a week, but I guess in the end I would have made more money with the part time company anyway. I am a business owner as well, and have full coverage Kaiser Insurance anyway. I was just in it for the winter to help LinkUs's Ukiah location get caught up on returned equipment that was being sent back to DishNet, and the previous warehouse manager never entered any of it into the system to return them, and was eventually busted smoking cannabis out back of the warehouse, and terminated immediately. Enter myself. I was trained for 2 days on all the equipment, small parts, the inventory computer system, and that was it.
I was never shown how to look at a work order and tell the difference between the meanings of items on them, and was supposed to figure it out on my own, while I had 13 very pissed off installers waiting to get their parts from me for the day for their installs. They were only pissed off and disgruntled because they had to get up @ 5:00am everyday to be there on time to work for 8 to 9 dollars an hour. And here I am getting hired from outside the company and was making a wage that was 50% higher than their wage. Don't ask me how they found out how much I was making, but they did, and they were pissed. I was able to figure it out on my own with no help after 2 more days and the place was rocking again. Hench the email congratulating the Ukiah location for getting things back on track. After I caught up all the returns going back to DIshNet, they figured, hell, they don't need me anymore.
I was let go 4 days later. No reason, just the fact that I was sick. It happens, and that's as far as it goes with these people and myself. I am making 4 times as much now after taxes anyway, and they can have their little corporate world, run by a bunch of blue collared, un-educated wanna-bes. So, good luck employees of LinKUs. If you work at Fresno, Anderson, or Las Vegas, I am sure things are great. But for all the other California and Oregon locations, it is the bottom of the barrel. Comparable to working at K-Mart.

I was hired as Warehouse Manager by M. Johnson, who I am sure the first employee to make a comment about the Redding location knows as well. He was probably hired by him. This Inventory control manager should not be in the place that he is within the company. I have 20 years experience running warehouses. I was a distribution manager for a Major Juice company that has it's headquarters in Half Moon Bay, CA. I was also the warehouse manager for a juice company in Eureka.
After getting the run-a-round, and the lies, and the BS from the corporate world, I decided to start my own Landscaping Company in 2003. It is a successful entity. We slow down in the winter, so I decided instead of going on vacation this year, I was going to use my skills again, and get employment for the winter. Mind you now, they pay Managers $11.00 an hour. Not quite my friend, considering the regular warehouse worker is hired at$9.00/hr. I took the position against my better judgment. The Ukiah Location was 3 months behind in RA returns and repairs. I got it caught up in 3 days, and all the equipment was sent back to DishNet.
When I was hired, they promised me a wage of $14.00, but the inventory control manager never got approval from HR, and they said they were sorry and lowered my rate after one week. I was working 50 hours a week, even though they said 40. I was only asked to stay late at the time I was about ready to punch out and go home. I am sure that LinkUs is a good company with good benefits, but the person that HR has in position to do the hiring, the Inventory Control North Coast Manager does not have a clue on how to run warehouses or managerial duties. They trained me for TWO DAYS as a manager, and expected me to know all the parts, the part numbers, there Citrix Inevtory Computer System, which, granted, I did figure out on my own after the third day. But it took the Northcoast Inventory Control Manager 4 weeks to get back to me after I had filled out the new hire packet. He never returned any calls. He never picked up the phone, or returned emails.
I still was working for another company at the time, and I didn't want to leave them hanging, and LinkUs sis not understand that I already was scheduled for 3 days the second week of my employment. I got the other employment, because Mr. Johnson took his sweet time getting back to me and I needed something. So know, I am working in a freezing cold warehouse with no heat all day, I worked 3 double shifts between the two employers, and ended yp getting sick because of it. I called and told them I needed the next day or two off, and they claim they never got the messages. I wrote him an email saying I was sick, and couldn't come in because i would have gotten worse. He responds to myemail by saying that my email was a letter of resignation. I was canned. It does not matter really, because I am contracted out @ $50 an hour anyway, so I should have my head checked for trying to work for them.
Just a fair warning for anyone looking to work for them. It is illegal to offer a wage, and then lower it the next week because proper approval was never given. Good luck every one with their employment. It is already looking better than last year.

I have been an employee for LinkUs for 8 years.....I'm committed, faithful and appreciate the opportunity that they have given me. I make a very good living with medical benefits, 401K plan, and paid time off. My paycheck and paychecks of my colleagues are paid weekly and have NEVER been late. I work with great people and I have met other empolyees from other offices.....they all seem to be great people and make a great team. It's unfortunate that you can't appreciate the opportunity given to you. Get real, it's a tough economic time and jobs are hard to come by. You are not entitled to a job and you probably have jumped around from job to job every few months. It's people like you that will never be a valued employee and will probably be a social liability with unemployment benefits, fraudulent work comp claims, and more. Social liabilities such as yourself is a great example of what is wrong with today's workers and our American work ethic.....nobody wants to work anymore, you expect a paycheck but don't want to work for it. Our forefathers would be disgraced by you and your behavior. You need to re-evalute yourself and go find a job that you can commit to and grow with. Good luck finding employment in today's economic conditions.

First, YES, LinkUs has made technicians change the hours on their timecards to reflect a 40 hour work week rather than stating the actual hours a technician would have claimed for each day worked. Do I remember why? NO, ask J.D. we were told that if we didn't have the techs fill out there timecards this way, he would find somebody else who would. While I, for some d**n reason enjoyed some aspects of my job, attempted to do so in a way that wouldn't get me in trouble for something I knew was wrong.
Second, they didn't falsify mileage (M I L E A G E) charts, from the information that I was given, the company didn't need to pay what the state paid for on their milage chart. That the difference between what LinkUs paid and what the state paid could be included on the technicians tax deductions.
As far as paying the mileage that a technician wrote on their timecards as to be correct? That action by the company was stretched beyond the point of stupidity. They decided to use Mapquest as an accurate basis for auditing technicians mileage on their timecards. Considering on the Mapquest.com website it states:
"Please note that the Materials may include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. In addition, you may find that weather, construction projects, traffic conditions, or other events may cause road conditions to differ from the listed results. Please obey the rules of the road at all times and comply with all posted signage"
In other words, the mileage reported from the site may differ from actual mileage...
"The manager was a dumba** idiot who knew nothing and lied all the time."
Could you elaborate on the above statement please?
Actually, the manager started out as a field technician as well, yet for some odd reason, after being hired for a position that was no longer available, he took a job as a tech until the warehouse (W A R E H O U S E) position became available once again. No the 350lb. guy didn't make a great tech, yet he always seemed to get his jobs completed...no matter if he put in the 18 hour days or not. From there, he moved into an interstate driving position with the company and averaged about the same miles as he did per day as a technician, yet this time delivering satellite equipment to all offices from Sacramento up to Medford. On days he wasn't driving, he worked in the warehouse and from what I understand, he went above what others in his position were doing; that's why he was offered the job as the Technician Supervisor, which, like a dumba**, he took....figured it was the only way to get a raise in the company was to work his way up the ladder. So for a measely pay increase and a lot more stress than it was worth, he took the position that was offered to him by a heck of a salesman. So for that measely pay (yet higher than he was making in the W A R E H O U S E, he went back to working 18 hour days, seven days a week to try to make the technician side of the company run as smoothly as he could.
I'll assume that by "ant" you meant "any"?
Hey, Thanks for spelling my first name correctly. You get a gold star for your efforts.
The W A R E H O U S E guy wasn't 80. He was 62, yet being a Vietnam Vet and a long haul driver probably wore him out fairly quickly. You're blaming him for you not taking responsibility for your actions and double checking the equipment that you signed for? How unrealistic is that? Sounds about as bad as going to the bank, withdrawing $1000 and signing for it from the teller, then trying to go back in the next day and saying you only got $500....see my point?
The turnover rate is closer to 85%, yet...sadly...I've witnessed so many technicians quit because of the working conditions, only to attempt to come back six months later looking for their job back. Here's my question; If the company is really that bad to work for, then why on earth would you want to go back to it???
Also, if I understood the information from the lawyer regarding the class action lawsuit that has been in the works for over a year now; if you've already received an award from your labor board suit; you cannot by law join the class action suit currently against LinkUs.
Have a good day J.R.
