My home is a 2 story house, and I have A/C on both levels. The A/C on the lower level stopped working so I called for the services of Lionel Sigmore's A/C parts.

They came and said they did a PC Board bypass and charged $135. They recommended that day to get a new PC Board and that it would cost $100. A few minutes later, they said the PC Board would actually cost $400. A few minutes after that, they said it's $800 since it's summer season. They left, and the A/C fan was working again, but the A/C itself was not working. No cold air was coming out, just the fan was working.

We called them again, and they said there was no refrigerant and that it was probably leaking. They said they would have to either replace the parts, which would cost $2300 total (including the $800 PC Board), or that we would have to replace the A/C unit entirely. They told us that since a new A/C would have a 10 year warranty, and that that's what they would recommend.

We then asked why our current warranty doesn't cover these problems, since our A/C unit is only 8 years old. They asked for "warranty papers," even though I know that they can just look up the serial number on the units to find the warranty coverage. They recommended we buy 2 new A/C units, even though the A/C upstairs was working fine. We asked why we would need 2, and they said the upstairs one would probably break soon as well so we should buy 2, for $6500.

Not long after they left, the A/C on the 2nd floor stopped blowing out cool air, with only the fan working. The capacitor for the 2nd floor A/C had stopped working. This is either just a coincidence or they did something to it.

We called a different company (RMI) to have a look, and they told us the PC Board was fine, nothing was leaking, and that all we needed was a replacement capacitor and to refill with refrigerant, all of which cost us just $344. They told us that the guys from Lionel Sigmore's A/C Parts did an unnecessary bypass on the PC board, when nothing was wrong with it.

These guys try to suck as much money out of you as possible, doing unecessary "services" and recommending you to buy things you don't need because they count on you just trusting what they say. What would I know, right? I'm not an expert on A/C repair. Too bad for them that I know to get 2nd opinions. They count on your lack of knowledge to try to scam you. Stay away from them.
