I hired Lisa Jackson, CPA to do my taxes for the 2006 tax year. Based on the tax return that she had completed, I owed a considerable amount of money to the IRS and was concerned that there must be an error in the preparation of the taxes.

I took all of the documentation that I had given Lisa to another accountant who then reviewed my taxes and found that Lisa had overlooked numerous deductions. She failed to ask the questions necessary that would lead to my deductions. She could clearly see that I had several pieces of property in my name but failed to ask me for the taxes, insurance, maintenance, HOA, etc. in regards to the properties.

I contacted Lisa with my concerns, upset that she did not uphold her responsibility as a licensed professional. I explained to her that I could not use the taxes that she prepared because they were not done efficiently. I asked her for a refund for completing my taxes incorrectly and she would not oblige. I hired Lisa to complete my taxes correctly not just to complete them. Lisa Jackson is a licensed professional and has a responsibility on her part to complete all due diligence necessary when preparing tax returns. Lisa Jackson has failed to abide by the Code of Ethics in her profession. I have contacted the Arizona Board of Accountancy and have filed a complaint.

RE: LISA JACKSON ISSUED AN ADMINISTRATIVE LETTER OF CONCERN

AUTHOR: E - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, July 22, 2010

It's good to see that the truth finally comes out and you, LISA JACKSON, are willing to admit that you have received an administrative letter of concern.  I find it odd that you state you have done nothing wrong, yet a group of your peers issued you an "administrative letter of concern".  Ask any third party CPA or tax accountant and they will tell you that this is viewed as an extremely negative thing.  The CPA I spoke with told me that it is a slap on the wrist.  I would encourage others that feel that Lisa Jackson made mistakes on their tax returns to file a grievance with the board.

I think it is extremely funny that you state that you should have fired me as your client.  The only reason why you didn't have to pay over $4,000 in fines and take mandatory continuing education classes is because I never filed the tax returns that you did for me with the IRS.  If I would have filed those tax returns, then I would have had damages against you.  I believe that you lucked out and were just given a slap on the wrist by being issued an "Administrative Letter of Concern".  The tax committee had it right the first time when they wanted you to take continuing education classes and pay their fees for the investigation ($4,000+).  Fortunately for you, you were lucky that someone fixed the tax returns that you prepared for me before I filed them with IRS.

Through this whole experience that I went through with you, I have attended several tax classes.  I am actually teaching a basic tax class to about 50 people a month.  I will make sure to mention that you were given an administrative letter of concern (since you have verified it is the truth).  I also want to thank you for confirming the accuracy of what I said.

Lastly, you claim I never gave you the deductions you requested.  If you would have asked me to show that I paid real estate taxes or an HOA, I would have.  I strongly feel that you were negligent with my tax returns and did not do your due diligence when you prepared my returns.  You really should have resolved this before it was escalated, but you obviously did not.  You can go hire another attorney to represent you and hope they get you off the next time someone complains to the board about your competence as a CPA.  I didn't have an attorney in my case because I didn't need one.  And just as an FYI, when you Google my name you will soon find out that all charges were dropped.  I will be doing a press release soon to verify this information.

Lastly, why don't you include the letter where the tax committee said they wanted you, Lisa Jackson, to take continuing education classes and pay the $4,000 + for the investigative fees of this case.  I think your attorney did a great job.  I would have attended the hearing, but I could not.  I regret not attending the hearing and defending myself against your allegations.

Letter of concern from AZ Board of Accountancy

AUTHOR: Lisa S Jackson - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 14, 2010

While Mr Saloum has provided a link to the Arizona State Board of Accountancy showing a letter of concern has been issued, he is not privy to what the letter actually said.  There was no disciplinary action taken therefore it is not public.  The attached jpg is the Letter of Concern issued.

As you can see, the board sent someone to review the work I did and interviews were conducted.  The board spoke to Elvis Saloum and to me and determined based on lengthy questioning and investigating, that the only thing I did wrong was that I should have fired Elvis Saloum as a client and not done the work.

He used my work to engage another tax preparer who simply added deductions and figures for which I had no documentation and directly conflicted information I received from Elvis Saloum.  I offered to do the same if more documentation was available and was not given that opportunity.  I reviewed the returns with Mr. Saloum twice prior to completion.

Google Elvis Saloum and draw your own conclusions.

Response to Elvis Saloum

AUTHOR: Wali - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 11, 2010

My name is Wali Mailatyar and I worked for Lisa Jackson CPA back in 2006-2007 tax season.  I have never met Mr. Saloum but have spoken to him in several occasions regarding his payroll tax issues with his former employer.  My experience with Lisa Jackson CPA was in contrary to what Mr. Saloum has reported.  I was the staff preparer on the tax return Mr. Saloum is referring to. Mr. Saloums tax return was prepared based on information provided and email correspondence between Mr. Saloum and Lisa Jackson. Mr. Saloums concern was that he owed a lot in taxes so he hired another accountant to redo his taxes.  Lisa Jackson obtained a copy of tax return prepared by the other accountant who was not a CPA through her attorney.  We reviewed and compared the tax returns, I found out the difference in two tax returns were $40,000 in deductions that was allocated $10,000 equally to four properties.  Lisa Jackson offered to redo his taxes if he would provide documentation to back up the deductions but he refused.  I have worked in several CPA firms in my accounting career, I find Lisa Jackson to be very knowledgeable and respected in tax profession and she conducts herself in the highest standard of professionalism.

Lisa S Jackson- Respones to Michelle Perkins allegations

AUTHOR: Elvis Saloum - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2008

Ms Lisa S Jackson, accountant, initially told me that she wanted to resolve the case above by re-doing my taxes. However, I had already paid another company to prepare my taxes and refused. I then explained to Ms Lisa S Jackson that I wanted my money back for the tax returns that she had prepared. She ultimately refused. I spoke to an attorney that mentioned to me that Lisa S Jackson has a fiduciary responsibility to do my taxes with competence. For example, if Lisa S Jackson is a certified public accountant, why is she omitting that I pay property taxes on a property that I own. This is one of several examples of clear negligence that is found in the tax returns of Lisa S Jackson.

Furthermore, she is not upholding her fiduciary responsibility as a certified public accountant. Common sense tells us that if someone owns a property, they pay property taxes. Certainly, an accountant should make sure they do their job and add this to their client's tax returns.

In response to Michelle Perkins allegations, I have had 2 other companies review the tax returns prepared by Lisa S Jackson. The last 2 companies that reviewed Lisa S Jackson's work were not CPA's, however they are licensed by the state of AZ and registered with the IRS as accountants. The statement above that Michelle Perkins made is incorrect regarding the fact that these accountants, were not licensed in any capacity. I also have a letter from an a neutral third party accountant stating that in her opinion, Lisa S Jackson did not act professionally and made numerous errors preparing my tax returns. I will take a quote from her letter, If this situation were to occur over a simple 3 year period, it would cost Mr. S easily $28,000.

Lastly, Michelle Perkins also has stated that Lisa Jackson has offered to sit down with me. We were supposed to have one phone conference meeting in which my current accountant was unavailable due to personal matter on November 29, 2007 at 2:00 PM. I called and spoke to Michelle Perkins by phone prior to the phone conference and shortly after the conference was supposed to begin. However, Michelle Perkins verbally told me that she thought I was wasting her time and was not willing to reschedule. At this point, I will patiently await the matter to be reviewed by the Arizona Board of Accountancy. They will review the work done by Lisa S Jackson. I have tried on several occasions to have this resolved, but was not successful. I simple asked for my money back for the tax returns that Lisa S Jackson prepared.

As a side note, it will be interesting to see how Lisa S Jackson will explain to the board why she omitted that I pay property taxes on a property that I own. Lisa S Jackson should know that anyone that owns a property has to pay property taxes. It's just common sense and ultimately should lead to Lisa S Jackson being found guilty of negligence. Furthermore, this is a clear example of her fiduciary responsibility as a CPA being broken.

Attorney Response to Elvis Saloum

AUTHOR: Rlajack1217 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 30, 2008

By way of introduction, my name is Michelle J. Perkins, Esq. and I am Lisa S. Jackson's attorney. Mr. S's, aka Elvis, posting is not only libelous, but actionable in a court of law not to mention, unbelievably untrue. Mr. S expressed concern over his 2006 tax returns to Ms. Jackson back in July, 2007. Ms. Jackson, has repeatedly offered to sit down with Mr. S to address his concerns. This is the first complaint Ms. Jackson has ever received in the over 20 years she has been a CPA, which is why she got me involved. He alleged, as he did here, that he had other accountants review Ms. Jackson's work. The subsequent accountants were not CPA's, nor licensed in any capacity. Ms. Jackson's requests to sit down to review the work went unanswered, meaning Mr. S refused. When Ms. Jackson got me involved we scheduled a telephonic meeting for November 29, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Mr. S was to have his accountant on the call to present his concerns. Mr. S's accountant never appeared on the call and was never heard from thereafter. I, personally, have at least a dozen e-mails with Mr. S to address this matter. That does not include Ms. Jackson's e-mails. For Mr. S to so carelessly and effortlessly file such a false report against a licensed professional of the utmost integrity is a travesty of justice and while the internet provides useful information to many, it can also be utilized by those with too much time on their hands to attempt to discredit a company that has done nothing but provide this community with sound financial advice for over two decades.

Michelle J. Perkins, Esq.
