I went to Lonestar to buy a Pontiac G6 Convertable. I drove off the lot that night with a Pontiac G6 Sedan.

I was told that I could not qualify for a loan for as much money as the convertable cost but that they could get a loan for the less expensive car.

While speaking to the salesperson, I explained my situation to her. I work but
I also get a substancial amount each month from my husbands military retirement, veterans benefits, and his social security. I also explained that he was ill with Alzheimers disease and was in the veterans nursing home, mentally incapable of making decisions.

No problem she said, just list it as other income.

So after being there 6 hours they finally was ready and took me to the finacial office to sign all the papers. Which I did I was given copies, and the keys to my new car. I was excited.

They told me they did not have a owners manual for the car because all of them were locked up in the managers office because it was so late. So if I
would stop by the following day they would have it for me.

Oh and by the way they needed a couple of things for the loan company. Proof of my residence which they needed a utility bill or a phone bill and a
copy of my last pay stub.

So I was allowed to leave the lot with my new car and away I went happy as could be.

I took the utility bill which I printed off line because I receive an e-bill for my electricity and a copy of my last pay stub.

When I got there and ask for the person named Basil or something to that effect, the person that is suppose to go over everything with you about your
car before you leave the lot. He was suppose to have the owners manual for my car. He said he would get it and be right back.

This is when I started feeling funny about this whole situation, it took him a good 30 minutes and he was all over the dealership while I stood there waiting. I had also given my information that they had asked for to the receptionist.

Then all of sudden this man named Mr. Procter whom I had met the night before while signing all the papers appeared and said the electricity bill would not do, had to be one mailed to the house. And he asked me where was my phone bill. I said, you said one or the other, he got sarcastic and said I told you last night we needed them both. Which he did not.

Then he said I have to ask you about this other income. I explained again.
He said we have to have proof of this income. I said well I can provide bank statements because it is all direct deposit. That would be fine. They also said they needed a copy of my husband's drivers license. I said how crazy is that the man has dementia he does not drive a car. Well they had to have it. I said what about his military ID. That would be fine they said.

Now I have explained everything about my situation and my husband's situaction to these people twice in detail. At this point I am being treated like I have been hiding something from these people which I have not.

I explained everything to the salesperson right off the bat about my husband and about his income and me being his power of attorney.

Well as the days went on I provided them with his ID and 3 months of my bank statements that showed the consistent deposits every month and where they came from.

Was that enough NO. Each time I provided them with what they ask for they would come up with needing something else. Until about two weeks after the actual purchase date of the car I told Bob Boyd, the financial person in all of this mess that the best thing I could do was to bring them their car back and pick up my 2005 lease Buick that I had turned in to them , my down payment that I had made on the new car and put an end to this nightmare. He said he thought that was the best thing to do also. So I did.

I have never in my life seen such an unprofessional bunch of people in my life.
Anytime before when I bought a car if they let you drive it off the lot it was yours.

I was so upset about this whole mess I could hardly sleep worrying about what it was going to take to satisfy them so that I could get my car titled.
Obviously that never happened.

They were in such a hurry to sell a car they let me drive it off the lot before the loan was approved, they lied to me told me it was approved.

They even had me sign all the papers. Told me what my payent would be and when it would start everything. That is why I thought everything was signed sealed and delivered when I left that night.

Then they started treating me like the bad guy. Like I had done something wrong. The only thing I did wrong was being a woman in there buying a car by myself and they were taking advantage of me.

Like I said that has to be the worse buying experience I have ever had in my life. I was actually getting sick to my stomach when they would call because they would make me so nervous. I was trying to work my job which is 9-10 hours most days, and do what they would ask of me.

I did not want to loose my new car. But I finally realized there are alot of cars in this world and nothing was worth what they were putting me through.

If you work, get a substantial amount of money each month from your husband's retirement, veteran's benefits and his social security. Why are you having trouble coming up with a substantial down payment? You need to get some advice and financial counseling NOW. God forbid something should happen to your husband, but many wives aren't prepared in the advent that something might happen to him. IF you can get harrassed and ripoff by some scumbag car dealer in your present situation. Good luck.
