My father just passed away two months ago, when he purchased their new car 2 years ago he put insurance on the loan that would payoff the car if he were to die.

My sister and mother and I have been trying to contact their customer service for the last 2 months. Everytime we get through to some one they put us on hold to check on the matter, then promptly our calls are dropped.

My mother continues to make the payment because it is the only vehicle that she has and she does not want a bad credit rating. Another payment is due and I feel like telling her not to make the payment then someone will contact her and maybe staighten things out.

Who is the insurance with?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 11, 2008

He probably bought GAP insurance(or something similar). Most of the time this is NOT with the same company that does the financing, but a 3rd party insurance company.

You need to find that paperwork and look for the company and contact information. Even if it is LBAC it is probably a different department that you need to contact than the regular Customer (no)Service number. If you can not then contact the dealer he bought the car with. They may be able to give you the contact information.
