In the past, I used Low Country Van Lines for a move - was pleased with their service so I decided to use them for my move from Illinois to Florida.  However, after my most recent experience with them, I will never use nor recommend them again . . . and here's why:

When I packed my items, I made a very detailed inventory of the contents of each box, as well as marking each box with my own inventory number - I then entered each box number (with contents) and each piece of furniture on a spreadsheet so I knew exactly what would be placed on the moving truck (heck, I even measured each piece so I had the cubic footage!).  When the movers put their inventory labels on my items, I also noted what number went on what item, so when my items were placed in Low Country's truck, I knew their count matched my count.

My items were delivered on time to my storage unit in Florida.  As the movers were unloading my items, I checked off their numbers/items against my list.  There were items missing, furniture damaged, boxes crushed and mangled, and boxes obviously cut open with items missing - when I questioned the guys, they said that they were aware of the missing and damaged items and I could file a claim.

I took photos of the damaged boxes & furniture & filed a claim with Claims Service International (as instructed by Low Country & CSI).  When CSI said they didn't receive my uploaded photos, I uploaded them again and then followed up with a phone call to make sure they were received (they were).  CSI said the claim would be processed within 120 days, which was fine.

So, 3 months go by and on January 2, 2012 I receive an email from CSI saying they were no longer handling my claim and were referring it back to Low Country - no explanation was given.  I immediately called Yolanda at Low Country - she wasn't available, so I left a message (was told she was away from her desk and would return my call).  No return call, so I sent her an email - got an automated email response saying she would either call or email within 48 hours - I got no return call.  Just called her again, some guy said she would be back from lunch in 20 minutes and would call me then - I told him I had been trying to contact her without success, got no comment from him.  Three hours have passed and no one has returned my call.

Not sure what to do at this point except contact an attorney.  HUGE disappointment in Low Country - will follow all available avenues to make sure they don't do this to any other unsuspecting consumer.
