Lowes ripoffs consumers by not following through with rebates. On December 2nd, 2006, I spent over $6000 dollars and bought five GE appliances from Lowes. In addition I paid to have them delivered. The promotions were buy five GE appliances and receive a $500 dollar rebate and get free delivery.

On December 4th I filled out the paperwork and sent it in with my receipt from the store. On December 20th I was checking their rebate status website and read that they were sending me a check for $100 dollars and a letter. I called their toll free number to ask where the other $455 was. The rep said the receipt could not be read and instructed me to resubmit the paperwork directly to Department 5814-40 Lowe's Rebate center PO Box 8299 Young America, MN. I went back to my local Lowes and got another receipt.

On December 26th I again sent in the receipt with all the paperwork. On January 4th 2007 I received a letter from Lowes saying I did not qualify for the installation rebate of $50 dollar. This form letter had nothing to do with my situation. The rebate owed for the purchase and delivery was not even mentioned. I again called the rebate center and the service rep said it was a mistake and my $400 purchase rebate and $55 delivery rebate was being processed.

On February 2nd I called Lowes to find out where my money was. They had no idea and said I should re-submit the paperwork again. I spoke with Richard the manager on duty at the Lowes I purchased the appliances from. He said that the rebate center was screwed up and that if I didn't receive my rebate by February 15th he would credit the amount back to my account. He also said he would follow up on the 15th with me.

The 15th came and went with no phone call. I went to the Lowes store and this time spoke with Scott. He spoke with another manager, Brian. Scott told me it would be resolved but would not refund the amount owed to me, even though Richard had said on February 2nd that it would be done. He also said they, Lowes, is having problems with their rebate center.

Today is February 19th and Lowes still owes me $455 dollars. I strongly suggest you avoid shopping at Lowes and if you do buy anything there that has a rebate involved don't count on getting your money.
