Lowe's Anyone wanting to use Lowe's installation service beware! ripoff North Charleston South Carolina

A few days ago, my husband and I decided to go to Lowe's in North Charleston, SC. We decided; based upon the advertisement, to have one of Lowe's subcontractors take the job.

Yesterday, our information was faxed to the store. We had to wait 20 minutes for the gentleman to return to the desk and help us. Once he did, I was happy he called the contractor to confirm the size but that was the only thing I was happy about.

First, we had to wait over an hour for the contract to be filled out. This is not what we were told on our first visit. We were told that all we would need to do was confirm the order and pay. Second, we were assessed a $55 "dumping fee" for the door and the materials. I told the gentleman that on all the doors it states that the door and all material I pointed this out to the gentleman at which time he called the manager who assured him that this charge is correct. Finally, we were not given any credit for the fact that
we purchased a storm door as well as a door and we were still going to be billed as if these were separate.

This morning, the contractor arrived as promised. When he removed the door from the truck it was the wrong size. Our contract clearly stated we were to receive a 32 by 80 door. The door given to the contractor was a 36 by 80. When I called Lowe's to find out what happened, I was transferred 3 times and hung up on twice.

I finally reached Erica (?) in the installation sales department. I was told that the door we requested was not available in that size. I told her that this would have been helpful information last night when we spent 2 hours in the store. She assured me that if I came to the store immediately that she would personally ship the door to my home in 30 to 45 minutes.

I arrived at the store in 10 minutes. Keep in mind; I had to find someone to stay at the house with the contractor. I requested for an associate to page Erica (?) to meet me in the department. Instead she sent Rex to meet me. We picked out a door and I left. I waited at home for 1 hour. No calls and no door. I called the store 5 times only to be told Erica (?) was with a customer and would return my call which she has yet to do. I called Rex who stated that he would call me back.

The contractor realizing that this was not going to take place went to your store. Guess what Rex was gone and no one had pulled the door. Additionally, he was told no one would be delivering the door. Erica was of no help telling the contractor that he was just going to have to reschedule. Keep in mind, I am already out a days work; have a hole in the side of my house where a door was, and your store has over $900 of my money.

I called the Lowes corporate office to be assured of their apologies and calls from the store and the regional manager. I also received an automated email from Lowe's telling me I would get a call. I havent received it. I guess no one wants to take responsibility for your incompetence! The only good thing was the contractor was top notch and I have doors.
