On March 17, 2010, I purchased a Maytag dishwasher 306391MDB6759AWS from Lowes HIW, Inc. at 24050 Pacific Highway South, Kent, WA  98032. I also purchased a 2 year extended warranty and paid for installation.

Contractor No. LOWESHI982BN

March 28, 2010 Lowes sent out a contractor, to install dishwasher.  I later find out this was a sub contractor from Discount Water Heater.

March 25, 2013

I pulled up the wood flooring in front of my dishwasher which reveled a bump under the laminate.  The laminate was cut which revealed water damage.

We then pulled the dishwasher out to see if we could find the leak.  When the dishwasher was removed, the sub floor was reviled and showed water damage and black mold.  The hose which was attached was seen leaking water.  After looking closer it was obvious the clamp had not been tighten down.

The rubber hose does not show any signs or markings on it.  The sub floor is like a wet tissue, touching it; your finger will go through it without any pressure.  The adjacent wall shows visible water damage and mold.

March 29, 2013

I was asked by Jim, the assistant install manager of the Kent store, What do you want Lowes to do? I told him I wanted things fixed.  He assured me I would get a call Monday morning.

April 4, 2013

After several calls to the store and customer care, I finally get a call from Jeannine; she had received my BBB complaint.  Jeannine called with Farmers Insurance Info.  Called Farmers, who stated they were not handling the claim.

April 5, 2013

Received email SRS insurance would now be handling case.  After a week of leaving messages, I finally got a call back on 4/12.  The adjustor blames the vinyl flooring that was installed in my house back in 86, then blames the hardwood flooring that was installed before the dishwasher.  He claims I should have a receipt for the flooring that I personally installed before the dishwasher.  Let him know the flooring was not under the dishwasher and had been installed first.  Asked who keeps a receipt for something they personally installed over 3 years ago.   His response, Just for this reason! Again, let him know I dont have a receipt and the dishwasher was installed around the flooring.

April 15, 2013

Lowes still has done nothing but point fingers.  They have not sent out an adjustor and are no closer to resolving the problem. They push you on hiring them to do installs, but do not back their work, even though I also have an extended warranty.  I have also filed complaints with the BBB and Attorney Generals office.  Lowes has been quick to tell the BBB things have been resolved, even though nothing has been resolved.  Case has currently been reopened for the 3rd time.
Lowes has done nothing.  I had to pull out my cabinets to get to the mold.

The plywood has been pulled up and the subfloor is rotten through to the crawl space of the house.  The walls are soaked and covered in mold.  The water damage leaked into the adjacent room and carpet.  The carpet has been removed because it was
covered in black mold.  I have $32k in damages and Lowes will not take the responsibility to back up the work or contractors they hire to do their work.

AUTHOR: $32k in Damages, thanks to Lowe''s - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 23, 2013

It's been almost 2 month and still nothing!   According to Lowe's they have their attorney working with me to quickly resolve this.  I guess it's just another lie they told the BBB to get them to drop the file.  Can you hear the sarcasim in my message?

I spoke with an attorney today, who told me that I would be looking at about $10k in atty. fees and these fees can't be reclaimed in court costs.  So basically "if" I win my case, I get $22k to fix the damages; which still isn't enough to fix the damages done to my house by this LAME a*s company!  Not to mention the cost I have already put out or my time that has been wasted on this.

I'm glad the big corporate company is the one being protected, screw the consumer. (Again, do you hear the sarcasim?)

I will NEVER shop at this ripoff store again!  I know my friends and family have backed me up on this, it's just too bad that a few people don't make a difference when it comes to companies like this.

Same old Lowes

We had a problem with Lowe's a few years ago and the above report rings true in so many ways.  While our issue was not as serious as the op we finished up $1,000 out if pocket

we bought a Bosch dishwasher which came with additional 4 years warranty on 'major parts'.  About 3 years in the pump failed so we made a claim.  There followed several months of to and fro, first they said we don't have a warranty like that, so we sent copies off the original agreement, then silence for weeks, then it's gone to corporate for a decision and so on.  finally the decision came down 'the pump is not a major part'.  Appealed on grounds it is essential to working not like a rack for dishes, and at $900 plus labor must be fairly major.  No deal.

since that time we have never spent a single cent at Lowe's and have used their major competitor to replace the tile roof at our home and to remodel kitchen and baths.  These jobs were competed to our absolute satisfaction, and the contractors used were exemplary.

42 days have passed and still Lowe's and their sub contractor have done nothing but lie.  I have complained to the BBB and Attorney General's office, which Lowe's has come back numerous times saying things are resolved and they are working with myself and my attorney.  I'm not sure how that is possible, since I have not heard from them and my attorney is still waiting for a call back, from over a week ago.

Lowe's now states there is not an extended warranty, even after they were provided a copy.

Then there's a problem with my home phone number, even though they have contacted me at home several times.

Now they say they never serviced the dishwasher, even though I have copies of the work done and  invoices, stating there is no charge, due to the dishwasher being under warranty.

It's one excuse after another.  I have done nothing but provide proof to each and everyone of their stupid demands.

They now blame the non exisiting serivicing company they  sent out for the damages.  When the invoice clearly states what was repaired on the dishwasher.  There would have been NO need to unhook and remove the dishwasher to fix the control panel on the top of the door.
