In January 2003, I subscribe lucky magzine for two years and paid the subscription fee. In August 2004, they started to send me a new bill, without any reason (Note that my subscription expires at January 2005). The worst thing is, they do not include any phone number in the bill, and I could not find any contact number/email on their website. It seems they are knowingly hiding their number.

Furthermore, they add red letters with delinquent credit warning on their mails. This is a ripoff act. Please help me find out their contact number (to the person in charge) if they have any.
Thanks.

Interesting Facts

AUTHOR: Lucy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 09, 2006

As far as the first comment, I understand your frustration. However, as a long time employee of CDS, which handles the inquiries regarding Lucky magazine, as well as the Conde Nast publications, I feel as if i should stand up and let a few things be known. First, I do understand the frustration when a person receives delinquent notices on something that they did not know was placed. But, there are a few reasons why this could have happened.

1. If the offer was placed directly through our company, I do apologize for the inconvience. Sometimes there is a paid order on file for us, and then we subsequently receive another one. the computer cannot distinguish by itself whether this order is placed way before the experation date. BUT, if the offer was placed through an outside agency, such as magsforless.com or something of that nature, it is the agencies responsibility to take care of the cancellation, as we are not allowed to do that per our agreement with them.

2. if the original offer was placed over the internet, there is a disclaimer right under where credit card information is placed that says that the order will be automatically renewed every year unless we are told not to do so. this can be stopped by writing 'cancel' on the bill and mailing it back to us. there are many occasions that people do not read everything, but instead just fill out the information, so i appologize if this is how it was done.

3. also, if someone placed an order in your name falsely, and when placed in the computer, it was matched that you already had a subscription, and thus another one was placed. this happens far more than we would like it to, so again, if this happened to you i do appologize.

these are just a few of the things that could have happened. again, i am sorry for the inconvience. however, as far as the delinquent notices, i just want you to know that it is an 'in house' collection agency and it does not harm your credit like many people think. once the order is cancelled or paid, we take care of the rest.

also, i am sorry that you could not find a phone number. it is located within the first few pages of the magazine, and also, you are more than free to write us and we will respond as soon as possible. again, i would like to appologize on behalf of Lucky Magazine and CDS as a whole.
