In July of 2015, we began researching a vacation for New Years 2015-2016. After searching many websites, we found Luxe Vacation Homes and ultimately Kona (luxevh.com/home/kona). We had multiple conversations with JB ("reservation specialist") regarding the home. We were looking for something clean and modern with a great kitchen as we love to cook and prepare meals.

We also were informed during the conversation that the owner was in the process of switching one bedroom from a queen to two doubles, something that was very important given the make-up of our group. Lastly, and this was what really sold this home for us, we were told that by staying at this property, we would have complete access to all of the amenities of the JW Marriott Desert Springs (marriott.com/hotels/trav…). This included tennis courts, multiple pools, fitness centers, and many other awesome amenities.

After all of these conversations, and back and forth, we went ahead on July 30th and booked the home for 12/28/15-1/1/16, for a substantial price. We paid the initial deposit and were informed that the remaining balance would be due 30 days prior to our stay. We signed and returned the contract, received back confirmation and began to plan all of the outings in the desert during our stay. Plane tickets were booked for people coming from Pennsylvania and Kansas, and car reservations were made. On 11/5/2015, we paid the remaining balance, well before the 30 day period.

On December 4th, the train began to come off the rails. We received an email asking us to "review our stay at Kona". This was particularly odd since we weren't scheduled to arrive for over 3 weeks! We immediately emailed back and followed up with a phone call. We were assured by JB that this was just a system error and he confirmed that our reservation was absolutely correct in the system, no need to worry. The first of many lies we would be told.

On December 17th, we received an email that began with "I hope you are looking forward to your upcoming stay in the Palm Springs area." Which would be very nice if the next line didn't launch into some elaborate story about how the home was double booked and the other booking was actually made prior to ours and oh sorry, no stay at Kona for you! Good news though, there was another home available and even at a lower price for us to stay in! Let's keep in mind, this is two weeks before New Years, and only 10 days before we were supposed to arrive. This was the only home that had the minimum number of bedrooms for us to stay in.

Any guess on why it was still available at this point??? The home was not even close to the same level and in a completely different city with access to no amenities! We responded that this home would not work and listed a multitude of reasons. When we explained that we were not satisfied with this home, we were told that they were sorry, everything was booked since it was the holiday and they had been trying since December 3rd to find us something! They realized on December 3rd that they had messed up entirely and began looking for something but didn't bother to tell us!! What's worse, when we contacted them and confirmed our reservation was correct, they lied!

After much back and forth, with many more lies from them, the worst offender being Tim the "manager", we contacted a lawyer. We were instructed to direct all communication moving forward to their attorney Devon. After multiple attempts to reach Devon, both by email and calling Luxe, an internet search revealed that Devon didn't actually work for Luxe. He never did, they just had him on their website. He had no access to the email address they were forcing us to send emails to. More lies!!

This is the most dishonest, deceitful, misleading company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!!!‪#‎luxevacationhomes‬ â€ª#‎luxevh‬ â€ª#‎dishonest‬

Rats jumping from a burning ship

Luxe is scrambling. They owe thousands to owners and have been banking on pyramid payments to dig out of the hole. If you have a home in the Luxe VH managment program beware. They are lying to guests who booked homes months ago. They say homes are not available because of circumstances beyond their control. They are lying and I have proof. I really feel for all the people who have holidays booked and will arrive to locked doors because Luxe failed to pay their bills.  I was told today they have already lost one lawsuit but not yet paid. Many more coming.

The lies continue....

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2016

There may be two sides to every story, but it is often easy to know which to believe when the lies continue to pile up.  To keep it simple, we will address these in bullet points:

  • Lie #1 - The Property became "unavailable for their dates due to circumstances beyond our control"
    • What they mean to say, is that we can't control when our employees make an error and then we have to lie to say that they property was double booked property.  We were told that even though we booked on July 30th and had regular correspondence up until December 3rd, we were only informed on December 17th that the property had actually been double booked with the other party booking prior to ours.  It is clear that someone entered our dates incorrectly allowing another party to book the home after we made the reservation.
  • Lie #2 - "At this point LUXEvh did everything they could possibly do to find these guests a new, upgraded property for their reservation dates and inform them of the situation."
    • When we contacted them on 12/3 to ask why we had been asked to review the property we had not yet stayed in, we were assured our reservation for the home was in the system correctly and that we were all set, paid in full and ready to enjoy a wonderful time.  All the while, they were already well aware that the house had been double booked and lied to us outright.
  • Lie #3 - "LUXE Vacation Homes did not have any comparable properties left due to the high demand Thanksgiving season"
    • Odd since Thanksgiving was already long over at this point and our reservation was for over New Years.  They must be confused with the date that that they put us in their computer for versus the date we acutally booked and were confirmed for.
  • Lie #4 - Their entire second paragraph
    • There was never any appology.  What's' worse, we were only informed of this situation over email!  An email that began, "We hope you are looking forward to your Palm Springs Vacation" and then went on to say the home was double booked and not available.
  • Lie #5 - "LUXEvh was able to secure a gorgeous celebrity estate in Palm Springs that was larger in size, almost double the dollar amount, and had full intentions of paying the extra cost to the guest to ensure their satisfaction, as well as refund the guest a large portion of their reservation total to compensate for the inconvenience of having to move residences."
    • This is a complete and utter lie.  The home was one bedroom larger and in the downtown area of Palm Springs, somewhere we had no desire to be.  There was a reason this was the only home still available one week before our scheduled vacation.  There was never a mention of any refund for our inconvenience and luckily I have all the emails to prove this point.
  • Lie #6 - "The guests then demanded we move them to a villa at a 5 star hotel in a different city, an entirely different region of Southern California, which we were unable to accommodate for various reasons."
    • The home we rented was located on the property of the JW Marriott with access to all of the ammenities that the resort offered.  The only property that we were offered by LUXE were in totally different cities as well and were not comparable or part of a resort.  We spent the time and energy ourselelves to find a comparable replacement.  When we presented the option to LUXE we were told that they would seek owner approval and get back to us.  We did not receive a call back for over three days, probably because the owner JUSTIN is not actually invovled in the day to day operation of this business.
  • Lie #7 - "the guest did not seem interested in replicating the Palm Springs vacation they had planned, but instead try and take advantage of the situation. "
    • By take advantage of the situation, I suppose they mean salvage an extremly expensive vacation that wasy 6 months in the planning with three generations flying in from all around the country.  Since LUXE waited over two weeks to tell us they realized they screwed up, we were left with virtually no options.

  • Lie #8 - "As any business owner can imagine, this was a terrible situation for all sides"
    • I'm not sure what exactly was terrible for their side, other than the horrible inconvenience of receiving our phone calls desperate to find out how this could have happened and how we would possibly salvage our vacation.
  • Lie # 9 - "Unfortunately at this point the cancelled guest took to social media, and several other websites to inflict as much damage as they could. "
    • This is likely the larges lie of their entire story.  We worked for over a month, along with our attorney once LUXE refused to speak with us and were totally stonewalled.  Not only that, we were clearly instructed to contact LUXE's attorney at their company email, and they refused to provide a phone number.  After incurring significant legal fees, we learned that the attorney they were sending us to was not actuallky affilated with LUXE, had NO ACCESS to the email they were directing us to, and had no knowledge of the ongoing problem.  Only then after repeated emails to the owner, did our attorney finally get a one line response.  We asked several times to resolve this privately and when we were meet with no willingness to communicate we acknowledged that if they refused to open any line of communication with us we would take to social media, which we did.  Funny thing is, we actually do what we say and dont hide behind lies and deceiptful business practies.

What is such a shame about all of this is that the people at LUXE seem to want to either bury their head in the sand, or hope that we will.  Luckily in CA it is easy to resolve matters in Small Claims Court, which will be happening very soon.  In fact, the paperwork has already been filed and thise business will be getting served very shortly.  That is of course if we are able to every locate the owner to serve since he seems to be nearly impossible to find or contact.

Two Sides To Every Story

AUTHOR: Manager - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2016
There are two sides to every story, and it is only fair we get to tell ours. The property the guest reserved became unavailable for their dates due to circumstances beyond our control. At this point LUXEvh did everything they could possibly do to find these guests a new, upgraded property for their reservation dates and inform them of the situation. LUXE Vacation Homes did not have any comparable properties left due to the high demand Thanksgiving season, so they called every other rental agency in the area, individual homeowners who rent out their property on VRBO, Airbnb etc, and contacted realtors in the area to find this guest a new property for their dates. LUXEh made them their top priority in making sure the guests had a comparable property to arrive to.

When we contacted the guest to apologize and explain the situation, and to offer alternative options, the guest refused. They were not open to alternatives. Even though it was a high demand time, LUXEvh was able to secure a gorgeous celebrity estate in Palm Springs that was larger in size, almost double the dollar amount, and had full intentions of paying the extra cost to the guest to ensure their satisfaction, as well as refund the guest a large portion of their reservation total to compensate for the inconvenience of having to move residences. The guests then demanded we move them to a villa at a 5 star hotel in a different city, an entirely different region of Southern California, which we were unable to accommodate for various reasons. It was at this point, that the guest did not seem interested in replicating the Palm Springs vacation they had planned, but instead try and take advantage of the situation.

As any business owner can imagine, this was a terrible situation for all sides and never once were we not sympathetic with the guest. When the guest did not want to be moved into the upgraded residence or one of the other options we gave to them, we immediately refunded their money for their reservation. Unfortunately at this point the cancelled guest took to social media, and several other websites to inflict as much damage as they could. It is never our intention to provide anything but a great vacation rental experience for guests, and still apologize greatly to this guest who did not get the best service possible from us.
