We got a call from someone saying they were from a local country club, offering us an opportunity to advertise in their magazine 'Golf Life' which is distributed to all their members along with 5 other local clubs. We expressed interest, at which point a different sales rep from LuxLife publishing called. He offered us the inside front cover and an additional inside page for $1,000 for 12 months. We decided we wanted to proceed, at which point he wanted to get my credit card number over the phone, which is when I realized it was likely a scam. Did some research, found another ripoff report with the same exact story. I also called one of the country clubs, and they never heard of them. It seems they may change their company name to avoid legal action (but their number did not change from the last ripoff report).

New company name, same scam

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 01, 2017

So we were contacted by a different company, but the sales woman's name was the same - May Johnson. This time she is trying to sell us ad space in a publication called the Back Nine of Pittsburgh, and it supposedly goes to members of the Pittsburgh Field Club.

I wish these people would be stopped. Who knows how many companies have been scammed!

So the "CEO" of this company emailed me, threatening to take legal action against me if I didn't take this report down. Well I've since learned that I cannot take it down. So let me explain what he told me.

He said the reason the clubs claim to have never heard of their magazine is because they are new to this area and haven't published any issues yet. And they deal with specific reps, so only those reps would know about it. He then gave me a specific contact at St Clair Country Club. Fortunately I know a good friend who belongs to that club. He made some calls and confirmed that they are not allowed to do any advertising as a private club.

They even offered me a free full page ad if I remove this report. I'm sure it's because people are searching for this company after getting calls from sales reps and it's hurting their scam. If they attempt to take legal action against our business or try to slander our campany, we will pursue legal action against them.

Now please note, I really wanted to give this company the benefit of the doubt (especially if I could get a free ad!). The last thing I want to do is hurt a legit company, but that does not seem to be the case here. So I encourage you to do more research on your own.
