On October 13, 2012, we were traveling on the highway when a vehicle flipped over from the other side and was tumbling toward us on our side! I swerved to the right and avoided hitting it, but we were struck behind by another driver going about 60mph. My wife's back was sore and so on 10/18/12, my wife visited Lynchburg chiropractic for an adjustment. They offered to file with the insurance company so we provided them the claim # provided by insurance company of the person who hit us.
After hemming and hawing for October and November, they finally ended up rejecting the claim, saying it was the fault of the vehicle who wrecked in front of us. Lynchburg Chiropractic contacted us and let us know that the company had denied the claim, so we provided them our own insurance claim # in December 2012, only to realize that our own policy had no medical coverage. When they advised us of this, we also noticed that the bill was high ($190 for a 1-time visit) and when we inquired, Lynchburg Chiropractic said they'd forward us an itemized bill. They never did.
Finally, in January 2012, the 3rd vehicle's insurance company contacted us and advised they would accept all medical claims and that we should forward to them. My wife contacted Lynchburg Chiropractic to let them know, they refused to file it with the company because this was an October claim and because they'd already tried to file it before. I called them the next day and re-explained all of the above, and advised that this was our first accident, that we'd never done this before, etc., and also that if this 3rd company failed to pay we of course would by check or debit. The woman in charge of billing repeated a script several times about "office policy" and said that even with the claim # for State Farm I was providing they refused to file it again. As a last ditch effort, I advised that they would permanently lose our business if they pursued this course of action over the $190 claim and asked whether they were willing to lose our business over it. She said they were. We still never received an itemized bill.
If you're new to being in a car accident and dealing with insurance companies/medical services, or if you want itemized bills or receptive personnel in dealing with billing, I would go elsewhere.
