I bought a horse from Lynda Lake that, once I got him home, my farrier was reshoeing his EXTREMELY long hooves with shoes one size too small with one digging into the heel of his hoof.

I returned the horse in less than 1 week after he failed flexion tests and got squirrelly in the head but only after she didn't return my phone calls, yet had other people with other area codes call and she said they'd be home.

She kept the horse, kept the money, and said they'd trade for equal or better value.  Oddly, I never hear from her. She has gone back into "hiding" again and the reputation of her is running rampant with the stories I hear from other people.  Unreal.

Call the DA in Stockton to add to the list of complaints.  209-953-7731, Consumer Fraud Unit.  They were extremely helpful.   This woman needs to be stopped.  Ultimately, the horses suffer and so do we as parent's who buy "kid-friendly" horses, or parent's who work hard for the money making an honest living then get taken for several thousand dollars and end up with dangerous horses.  Have a horse vet checked AND A BLOOD DRAW!!!

Better yet?  Stay as far away from her as possible.

As the one to have posted this ordeal with our horse buying experience, I am VERY happy to report that Lynda DID refund the money in full today, May 17th.  This started March 17th and I'm happy to say that Lynda made good on her word that she'd refund the money back to my mom and she did. Nice to see some good comments. Restores my faith in humanity.

Do you think Lynda Lake knows how desperate and ridiculous her reponse makes her appear? She sounds like a raving lunatic. Her bizarre rambilings are reason enough to take my business elsewhere.

Calm down...breathe......

AUTHOR: IRATE CONSUMER - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 29, 2013

Lynda, I don't like being yelled at over the phone, and sharing my experience is called the 1st Ammendment.  What you're saying about my farrier and vet are untrue.  And you said I didn't need a $600 vet check.  You repeatedly apologized about the condition of his feet with the 0 size shoe on a size 1 hoof that was pushing into the heel of the horse. And he was only ridden twice at my place. Once before he was shod because we didn't want to hurt him on hooves so overgrown and to give him time to settle in.  And 50# less weight?  What on Earth are you accusing me of?  My horse are all fat and happy.  I wormed him when he got here, bought 4-way, WNV, and the EHV-1/EHV-4 vaccine for him but they stayed in my fridge.  So the new horse is getting the shots spaced out over time to not overload his system.  And crying?  Where did that come from?  It doesn't matter.  People can judge for themselves by the rant and the other complaints but I was trying to work with you and you said you'd send the money via cashier's check to the address I repeatedly sent you.  And I said I will gladly publicly say you made it right.

And the gentleman you told me to go look at horses said he wouldn't put his own kid on the bay and the other isn't an arena horse and paws at the trailer, is an appy, and I was looking for a Jr. Rodeo horse.  You're right...the horse wasn't a dink, I apologize for a harsh word.  I know he wouldn't be able to last long rodeoing and doing barrels as often as we do.  Same with Tank. Gorgeous horse but he wasn't an option and I knew that immediately or I would've bought him too. Nice boy.  But what you chose to do to make it right is your choice.  I'm guessing I won't see the money again but the safety of my kid comes first. You won't understand until you have children of your own.  And it's not just about my kid.  She'd be great advertising for you being out there everywhere on one of your horses.  But it's not just about her. We all ride and switch horses around and I will use one of my horses for barrels and trail trials, my kids will use the same horse for rail work and Horse Mastership Competitions, and my other daughter uses the same horse for jumping.  They are all well-rounded over time to keep them stimulated and it makes the kids better riders doing different disciplines on different horses.

I'm not malicious, I just trust people to be fair. I was actually surprised to see the various complaints but was still confident that you would make good on your promise.  You said you'd refund us because finding something of equal or better value didn't work out.  It's up to you. I said I would be sure to make it known that you did what said you were going to do.  It's that simple.  No drama.  Just good business ethics. We'll see if you pull through your end of what you had promised.

And the reason I won't talk to you on the phone is because I don't care for being yelled at. The horse being overridden is an interesting accusation.  I would NEVER ride horse with feet that long for more than walk/jog/lope on the rail in both directions then put him away . And my daughter needed to slowly get used to him. I'm not going to throw her on and tell her to run barrels hard on a new horse in a new place.  Integrity. That's all. I just wonder why you didn't pull the horse when we returned him and no one did a flexion test to see if it was true. Not that night, not the next morning.  Oh, yes, I am sorry.  I said I would make it clear that you refunded in earnest if you actually do that.  You did admit that you couldn't find one and I appreciate your honesty in that. It's up to you to do the right thing. I'm figuring I won't see the money as promised just like all of the horses you said you were bring up here on your way to see your Dad in Alturas that we could try. There was always a stall tactic so I gave up.  No big deal.  I didn't blow up on you.  I was patient.  It didn't work out. So we'll see if there is good business or not with your operation.  No big deal.  I'll wait and see if you mean what you say.

Have a good day. Oh, and I wasn't drunk.  I was upset that you didn't answer my phone calls but answered calls the same day from Sacramento, Oxnard, and Orange County.  That's why we knew something was "fishy".  But we'll see.  I'll be true to my word and wait to see if you're true to yours.

-Tiffany Gossen

"Hey Lynda and Christy,  Im so excited about the fabulous  gelding, Scout that I bought from you. He is truly my dream horse and is everything I have been wanting and dreaming of.  At first I couldn't believe that when I called- you interviewed me on the phone to get a feel of my ridng ability and what I really needed and would feel comfortable with.  When I got to your place I saw horses that I thought I would like better, but as it turns out they wouldn't as you had said  match up with my riding ability and personality.  Being an older rider 64,  I have to be able to trust my mount in any situation, and for him to be obedient enough to follow my commands in any situation.  Scout is that horse.  I can't thank you enough for your  expertise and patience with someone as picky as I was.  Here is a pic of Scout and me.  Take Care and God Bless. Pam Hetland, Fallon, Nv."

"Lynda helped me find my horse.  I looked for 2 years until I met Lynda and she searched for the right match for me and it ended up being perfect.  I probably wouldn't have done it without you and wouldn't have ever met my baby Magic.  We have so much fun and he even goes to the beach now!  Pretty good for an old ranch horse. Thank you again Lynda and keep up the good work.  Sincerely,Kim in San Diego"
"Thank you Lynda for another well-rounded, smart, willing, started colt for our ranch program.  You've always had the eye for the kind of horses that will hold up for our ranch work and terrain.  We are excited to see how this Driftwood colt will excell.  You have done a great job in starting him with the foundation we like.  We thank you for all the horses we have purchased from you and appreciate your knowledge and horsemanship.  K-> Ranch"

"Thank you for all you do in the horse world and with the people too.  You have a way about you that seems to brighten people.  You push them to do better and I think that is great.  My horses are doing just fine.  All is well and I wouldn't be where I'm at without you.  Thank you Lynda.Truly,Kim P."Lynda,Both Sara and I really enjoyed meeting you and Dalton.  Sara has had a smile on her face all afternoon!  I could feel her connection to him the minute she started brushing him and he had his muzzle on her back.  I even said something to her about it and she said she was already liking him and she hadn't even ridden him yet.  Anyway, we really liked you also.  You are so friendly and I can see you work hard to care for the horses.  Even the way you helped Carol and the other guy with his hands.  Very impressive.  And even though I can see you have your hands full with the facility, you have such a positive spirit and I wish you the very best in making your place a success!
-Carol & Sara

Sure is nice to see an honest, hard-working young gal like yourself stepping up and forward in the horse business.  It is not easy dealing with the different people in this crazy horse world- but you have seemed to find a happy medium in communication and in dealing with people.  I have not seen such a busy gal, smile on her face, confident, and so controlled in quite a long time.  It is interesting to sit back and watch you work.  You are a cowgirl and I like what you do with horses.  I like what you have done with my boy and will continue to advise folks to you for training and sales.  Don't be discouraged when others blame you for things they shouldn't.  You know what's right.  Keep doing it.  Results make the difference!  Thank you again for your good work.-Lisa C. Bakersfield, CA.

RESPONSE TO THE LYNDA LAKE BASHING***

AUTHOR: Lynda Lake - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 25, 2013

With the advancements of technology, popularity of the
internet, and the horse world becoming more and more E savvy, comes the ability
to effortlessly manipulate the truth, while hiding behind a computer.  As much as you want to try and hurt me by
stating FLAT OUT LIES- Julie Bey- on the internet- doesnt mean I am going
away.  I truly cannot believe the nerve
of you!!!  Outright lies!!!

You have quite an imagination and a lot of nerve to put on
the internet these deliriously idiotic tales that have about as much truth to
them as swearing pigs can fly.  No need
to track me down- as I am home.  Riding
horses at my place every day in Stockton, not in Idaho.  You know where I liveYou spent 4 days here.  Answer your phone, stop texting, and
communicate with me like a normal human being!!!  Your constant excuse of not having phone
service because you live down Gas Point Road doesnt mean your house phone
doesnt work!  Answer when I call!!  Also, the dinks I sling..Im sure my
other customers would LOVE to hear that you are calling their horses dinks.  I am not going to let you get away with
purposely hurting me and my name.  Trying
to work with you is like trying to catch a plastic bag in a wind storm.  Anyone who knows you, I am sure would
agree.

At this point, I truly believe you are toying with me.  Its no skin off your backIt wasnt YOUR
money that bought the horseYou are purposely slandering me, knowing full well
that I have been in contact with you, have been phoning & emailing with no
response backWhy?  Then you put these
lies all over the internet?  Why?

Your mothers horse is at my place- where you dumped him-
like he was, as you put it, a dink.
Since then, he has passed an actual vet exam.unlike your cheap attempt
to make up a flexion test/vet check conducted by your farrier/lover.  This is a business- not a soap opera.  Lets not forget about the 2 days spent riding
the horse here at my place, and after resorting to the ever-so-sweet dramatic crying
act, using your daughter as reason you wanted me to drop the price $2000- TO
WHICH I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Forgot that
part?

I cannot please everyone, nobody can.  I try to stay fair.  Its sad that the horse industry has shifted
into a battle between buyers vs sellers. It does not have to be this way.  I understand that there are dishonest horse
traders out there, but there are also dishonest horse buyers!!!  You are not innocent just because you are a
buyer!!  You have responsibilities
too!!  Read the Letter to Buyers &
Customers page on my website.
www.gootobehorsey.com   Obviously,
I am still around, after selling, training, boarding, etc. horses for 13 years.Ive
done something right- and there are MANY people that stand behind me.  You can see some of them by going to my
TESTIMONIAL page on my website.

You are not going to bully me into hiding or being ashamed
of selling horses.  I did NOT do anything
wrong and will not sit back and allow you to fabricate lies and slander my
name!  I am not a thief, a liar, or
someone who would ever want to do someone wrong.  You, on the other hand, clearly are quite
opposite- From you appalling lies to your distasteful behavior and word usage,
to your unmindful care for the horse (ie., After having the horse in your care
for a week and when you returned the horse, he had been hot-nailed, was about
50 lbs lighter, had cuts and marks all over him, was sore in his muscles like
he had been over-ridden, and was depressed- all documented and I have
pictures).  Now this story is all
starting to come together.

You show up at my house at 9pm- drunk- wanting to return a
horse you purchased from me a week prior.
You said he was lame, based on what your boyfriend shoer opinion of
the flexion tests HE did!!!  Your shoer boyfriend
is NOT a vet!  Neither am I or you. That
is why I recommend a pre-purchase vet exam for every horse sale from a
VETERINARIAN.  When I asked you to show
me the vet report that stated and explained how the horse is lame, you could
not provide one.  How is it fair to
demand from me your money back on a horse that you did not do a vet check on
that is supposedly lame?  And after you
have had him for a week?  The horse fails
your shoer friends flexion test? -Not good enough.  If you were going to have your friend be the vet
for your purchase, you should have brought him along when you originally came
horse shopping.

The horse is not unsound, as I did have a vet check on the
horse, stating he is healthy and sound after you brought him back, after I
doctored his hot nailed hoof, put weight back on him, healed his cuts and
abrasions, and got him feeling good again.
Even with you bringing the horse back, calling him a lame dink,  I will remind everyone again reading this- he
had been hot-nailed by your shoer/vet, was about 50 lbs lighter, had cuts and
marks all over him, and was depressed- all documented and with pictures .  Against all my common sense and intuition- I
still tried to work with you, opening up my barn for you to trade him in for
another.  You agreed by re-signing the original
Bill of Sale (IN WRITING) with the note on there that says, I, Lynda Lake,
will trade the horse for another horse to Julie Bey.  I have done everything I know to do to fit
you with another horse- sending you pictures, videos, opening my barn for you
to come down and try them anytime, sending you to another barn in your area.  You couldnt make up your mind and didnt
make the time to come over.NOT my fault.
I sent you to a friend of mine so you can look at his horses in your
area.you chose not to even go.  Also, it
is NOT my responsibility to bring you a horse to your place for you to
try!!!!  I am busy and have a training
barn, where I am paid to ride horses every day.
You stated at one point you do not have the gas money to come down to my
place- again, not my problem.  I did not
force you to come down in the beginning and I certainly did not make you drive
down at 9 pm one night bringing the horse back.
I offered to even show you a horse or two when I would be coming to your
area if you couldnt get down here.  I
have not been up there yet.  Point is, I
have gone to great lengths to please you.at this point, I have a buyer for the
horse- now that I fixed his hot-nailed hoof, his cuts and abrasions are healed,
and have weight on him.  I wasnt even
going to charge you for any of that, the vet check, the boarding, the shoeing, or
the commission!!- Just simply give you the money back.  I dont know what else to do for
you!!!!!!!!!!!

I ALWAYS recommend vet checks.Sorry, if you dont have the
money to afford one.  Common sense would
say: Maybe you need to be looking at a less expensive horse, so to be able to
fit in the costs of a vet check within your budget!!!  Let me say it again.I RECOMMEND VET
CHECKS!!!  If you go to my website at www.goodtobehorsey.com, you will be
able to read the Letter to Buyers and Customers that states the buying process
at my barn, also Julie, read your Bill Of Sale!!

Your demands have been impossible to fulfill.  You have jumped around like a crazy person
and I have tried to work with you, help you, and now I wanted to buy the horse
back so to get rid of you!  Although, you
wont call me back!!!!!  Who would not
call the person back who wants to give you $3500??????  I know its your moms money and I have been
contacting her too without any response back.
You cant call or answer my calls? But you take the time to post lies
about me on the internet??  Seems really
fishy to me.  I have everything
documented, my attempts to call to you and your mother, Constance, all emails, and
texts.  All the things to prove your
words about me not answering you calls are outright lies.

 Just because I sell
horses, doesnt make me automatically in the wrong or mean that you are
automatically in right and in control of the situation.  Its pretty simple.  If you have a problem with me or the horses-
call me or come over so we can figure it out.
But I will say, dont demand things that are not fair for both sides and
expect me to jump through your hoops.
Just because you dont like your decision about buying the horse- doesnt
make it my fault!  I DO NOT MAKE PEOPLE
BUY HORSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is your decision!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop blaming others for your mistakes.
In this case, as with most others- it ISNT the horse- it is the
HUMAN!!!!  I will help people and work
with them to get the right horse, whether he came from me or not.  I do it all of the time.  But, it makes it very difficult for me to
help someone who is outright hurting me!

Again, it is truly sad that you chose to attack me with
stating lies. You have tried to hurt me and my business by scaring people away
from me.  I have had an outpour of
support and disgust with your words about me.people wanting to recant your
postsbut I have asked everyone to not feed into your lies.  Although, I, will not allow this to go on
without speaking out.  It is time someone
steps up and reminds everyone that horse deals are not just one sidedit is an
agreement with both parties- buyer & seller.  Each one has responsibilities.  And each one has a side to the story!

I love horses.  I am
blessed with the ability to make my living and revolve my life around them
every day.  I will continue riding,
showing, training, and helping people with their horses.  I will continue to conduct business
ethically.  And I will continue to conserve
the tradition of the horse business as long as I canAlthough, that traditional
way of doing business is dwindling.  An
honest hand shake is not good enough anymore- And its not just the seller of
horses you have to look out for- its a lot of times, the buyers.  There seems to be a widespread misconception
by buyers that they can do whatever they want, get whatever they want, and have
total control over horse deals just because they are the buyer!!  And if they dont get their way, fair or not,
they comfortably and conveniently use the internet to defile the seller and their
business.  I cannot speak for everyone,
but I know my business.  I sleep great at
night, have an amazing group of people at my barn that I call family, strive to
have well-rounded horses, do my best to train horses, and help people find
their horse or work with the one they own.
Nobody is perfect, certainly not me.
I am growing and learning every day.
From what I have learned, running  a self-made, self-owned, and self-ran business
in the horse industry is not easy.pleasing everyone is impossible.  But I do my best at keeping everything fair
and reasonable.  If you dont like me,
thats ok.there are plenty that do.
Telling the whole world about it, while including outright lies???  That is illegal and down-right cowardly.  I should be getting an apology- I know I wont,
but I deserve one!  We never know when we
are going to be taken out of this world.
Horses make it better.  Put
yourself in others shoes before jumping to conclusions.  And certainly remember there is always more
to the story.  This business is a hobby
for most, but it is my way of living.  Again,
I am here to stay in the horse world.  I
look forward in seeing you in it.
