M & T Bank ripoff Westminster Maryland

Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I have had the same problem only at M & T Bank. The other day I made a few withdraws from the bank over the weekend. I had a rent check to be cashed on that following monday. When I went to make a deposit that same day the deposit went in for tuesday. I checked online before depositing the check to make sure if it was ok to go to the bank after 2 so that it would have gone in for tuesday.

When I deposited the check i went back to work and looked online. It did not show anything went through at all. Then tuesday morning I looked at the online banking and it was showing every transaction went through including the check being cashed for monday. But showed my deposit for tuesday. It took the check that was cashed for $575.00 first because it was the most expensive even though it didn't show online until after all the others went through. Because they took that out first it caused every other transaction made before it bounce causing (6) overdraft fees of $32.00 each.

I asked them why they took the check out before the transactions that were over the weekend first. Because they did this instead of getting (1) overdraft fee of $32.00 i had (6) with a negative balance of $202.76. Which to me is completely outrageous. I called and complained about the overdraft fees and they said they could only waive one as a courtesy. That this was not a bank error and that it was specifically my fault. They were down right rude and would not accept anything that I explained. I called the next day and talked to the manager she waived one more and still again stated it was my fault.

Another time I withdrew money from a ATM over the weekend. When I checked my account on monday it stated that i got an overdraft fee for $32.00 because of that withdraw. When I went in to ask why they let me take the money out of an ATM they said "because if you ran out of gas or had an emergency we give that money to you so nothing bad happens." Then they charge you an overdraft fee. To me that is ridiculous I would rather them not let me take it out instead of giving me a $32.00 overdraft fee that I can not afford to pay.

Another time I asked why it is that you can swipe your card and it can work instead of being declined and the woman at the bank stated "its so that you aren't embarrassed" Now wouldn't you all agree that you would rather be embarrassed that your card was declined instead of having it go through and then forking up an extra 32.00 that you know we all don't have to just throw away. I think that the banks are completely ridiculous and they are not trying to help any of us out at all. In the (2) years i had this account i never had an overdraft fee now all of a sudden then are just taking them out for ridiculous reasons.

I saw screw the bank!
