Guess the best way to illustrate the way I received my car back after getting ripped off for more than 3 Thousand dollars is to include the first letter showing the issues at hand.

July 18, 2005

Maaco
2245 Harvard Way
Reno, Nevada 89502

Gary:

Consistent with the pamphlet on Maaco's warranty concerning accepting your repaired vehicle, I am noting my dissatisfaction with the following itemized list.
This list has regular issues, major issues and especially disappointing, safety issues.

My wife will NOT drive this car. It will be parked in the garage awaiting resolution to the issues below.

Safety Issues

1. Bumper piston bolts missing. Bumper not bolted to vehicle frame.
2. Left side parking light doesn't work.
3. Left side directional doesn't work.

Major Issues

1. Paint job has small particles of dust and some tiny bubbles embedded in the paint on entire vehicle. Even the brand new drivers side fender which came from BMW primed, has these issues.
2. Temperature does not display correctly on onboard computer. (possibly sensor was loose or broken)
3. Body putty on passenger door by window and lock.
4. Putty dust all over interior vehicle and rugs and steering wheel.

Regular Issues

1. Trim moulding on drivers (new) fender is loose.
2. Grease spot on drivers seat. (We tried to clean it)
3. Bumper rubber on drivers side cracked on lower portion when installed. (This was not broken when supplied by me)
4. Bumper rubber not flush with bumper (small space) or not glued down.
5. Right rear quarter panel molding not clipped in. (sticking out by rear bumper)
6. Hammer marks all over brand new bumper.
7. Car would not restart after picking it up. Battery completely dead. May need new battery. We will try taking it for a full charge.
8. Chrome trim on passenger side marker light keeps snapping off.

I did return the car back to give them a chance to correct ALL the issues. My second letter reads as follows:

August 3, 2005

Maaco
2245 Harvard Way
Reno, Nevada 89502

Gary:

My wife was very happy that you resolved some of the 15 outstanding issues on our BMW, especially the safety issues.

However, we still have many issues left to resolve and I will list them below.

This is not the quality we expected for a job exceeding $3000.00.

We are available to discuss how the remaining issues will be reconciled.

Additionally, since the vehicle was rendered unavailable at your shop from July 21, 2005 to August 02, 2005 (inclusive) by the fault of the shop, we need to discuss rental car reimbursement for the unnecessary inconvenience that we were caused for corrections of said faults.

5. Bumper is attached but loose and crooked. (I can shake the passenger side with my hands bumper framed uneven in the bumper housing)
6. Temperature sensor wire connector (not the temperature sensor) hanging down and almost hitting the ground.

Regular Issues

1. Grease spot on drivers seat. (We tried to clean it)
2. Bumper rubber on drivers side cracked on lower portion when installed. (This was not broken when supplied by me)
3. Bumper rubber not flush with bumper (small space) or not glued down.
4. Car filthy inside and out.

Frankly, we are tired of getting nowhere when trying to deal with this company. We feel the owner is dishonest and does slip-shod work. MAACO, the corporate office doesn't seem to care either. They refused to inspect the vehicle to verify the issues including the damage caused by this shop. They did not offer to fix the car either.

I guess that's why ALL these MAACO reports are on this site. All they want is your money and don't care much about anything else. RIP-OFF incorporated!!!!

Next step seems to be litigation. If there are any attorneys that are interested in handling this matter, please contact me.
