On July 27th, I made the mistake of hitting "pay total due" instead of the normal $50 that I usually provide monthly. Two days later, on July 29th, I went to buy lunch and my card was declined. I immediately checked my bank account and tried to correct my mistake.

It first started with the call to customer service. Macys automated system is horrie and difficult to navigate through, so it took almost 20 minutes to just get transferred to the right place. After sitting on hold for about an hour (I was at work as well), I finally got an answer to forward my bank statement to Macys Payment Research, fax number 7275565775. Keep in mind my accout is $-400 at this point, Im going through a divorce and tryi my to move all while having to pay childcare, but sure, ill pay for a fax as well considering it is my mistake. By this time, it is wednesday the 30th. I am told to call back the next day.

I call as soon as I wake up and am helped by a lovely customer service helper ID# 91025273 and she tells me that they have recieved my fax and that I need to call the supervisor line to follow through with my transaction. I am reassured I will be getting at least $600 back.

Enter the supervisor named BRENDA Direct line is 7275567289. This is where the story gets confusing for even me. Brenda reassures me she can help and I should have my money eexpedited by Mon or Tues of the next week (August 5-6, 2014). She thenleaves me a voicemail an hour before she is supposed to leave the office on Friday, telling me that because MY bank statement is showing a negative account on MY end, they dont think my bank is upholding the payment--even though the day before I had recieved a confirmation letter for 650 from macys. I jump through their hoops, however, again, and at last minute I get my bank to write a confirmation letter on their bank letter head and faxed it immediately over. That was Friday August 1st, and it is now August 7th and I havent had a single call from them. I have called Brenda directly 3 times a day, and my call is always ignored. I have left messages eachtime ive called, inquiring whether or not they have recieved my fax? Was it sufficient? Am I getting any help? Hello?!

Macys customer service is horrible, and their supervisors are even worse. They promise help, and dont even document it. Make you jump through hoops with no intention of ever paying you back. I made a mistake to begin with, and its great to know that macys is a business who wont help the small people. Now that my account is paid off, I am closing it. I will NEVER shop at macys again, thanks to brenda and the financial recovery center. I have been a loyal customer of theirs for 15 years, and a cardholder for 10 years, but after this, ill never go near there and I willmake sure everyone knows why.
