Macy's Sneaky "sale" pricing scheme Richmond Nationwide

Macy's "store closing sale... everything 40 to 60% off." Fraud or just sleazy?? If you're planning on heading into one of the Macy's that is closing expecting big discounts on everything, be careful. What they've done is taken all of their Macy's price tags off everything so the only price listed is the manufacturer's suggested retail. For instance, Levi Strauss jeans which are on sale at other Macy's stores which are not closing (or online at macys.com) are $39. But at the Virginia Center Commons Macy's, which is closing, the store tags have been torn off, leaving an MSRP of $59. So, by the time you get your supposed "discount," you're actually paying about the same as you would at the regular stores. Fraud? Probably not. But sleazy, most certainly.
