Macy's AKA d**k's, Bare Esenctuals, The Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall Prejudiced Hiring Practices Poughkeepsie New York

      I would like to report the hiring practices of the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall.  Some of the stores mentioned are Macy's, d**k's Sporting Goods, Bare Essenctuals, and plenty others. My daughter is a college graduate who has been diligently seeking employment for several months. In 2010, she worked the holiday season at Macy's along with my other daughter. They both were called in to do the overnight shift for Black Friday, they agreed. They were told they were going to be paid tiem and a half for the night. What ended up happening was they told them to come in at 9pm and at 12am they went back to regualr pay because it was no longer a holiday.

Anyway they have applied to macy's several other times and have been told they do not qualify for the positions REALLY! There are only a handful of Black people working there anyway. So they go through the entire mall filling out applications since March of this year. They have been called in for interviews and as soon as they show their face, they dont qualify. Both have retail experience one is a college graduate and the other is second year college and its not until they see the color of their skin that they have a problem. My college graduate got an interview with d**k's Sporting Goods. She goes on the interview, the manager tells her he does not have her application on file, she filled out the application a month ago, but she came home and filled out the application again and  their assessment (which in my opinion is biased),

The manager called her and told her he had the application and would call her back so she could come back in. About 3 hrs later, he calls her to tell her she failed the assessment. How the hell do you fail an assessment based on your own personal answers!!!!!! She replied to Bare Escentuals for a Beauty Ambassador because she has experience in cosmetology. The associate asked her did she know anything about the products. She told her everything she needed to know and was very knowledgeable about the product. The job posting had just been put up and she applied right away.

She called a few days later and was told the store was fully staffed. What kind of BS is this! Once they go into the store and they don't fit the color criteria, they can pretty much cancel having a job anywhere in that mall. It's time that this gets told! Myself, My sister, My niece, and my daughters have all felt the RACIST wrath of the stores in the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall and its time something gets done about it! I have complained to the stores websites as well! I think today was the straw that broke the camels back when that manager told my daughter she didn't pass a personal assessment after she had already gone to the store.

You can count the number of Black people working throughout this entire mall. If it is 10% your lucky. How do we continue to keep our children positive and tell them the world is getting better when they are continually judged by the color of their skin and not the content of their character! Who stands up for them? We as parents do and will continue to do so and fight for the injustices that continue to plague our society because others assume that because we are of a different race or color that we dont value the same things or can get the job done as good or better than others.

This mall maintains a certain color criteria not based on qualifications but on appearances. And our pepople are hardly anywhere to be found. SHAME ON YOU POUGHKEEPSIE GALLERIA MALL ! One day your time will come and you too will be judged, I hope you have accountability for it! I would like for people to knwo this and its time for us to stand up for our rights as well. We are just as smart and well educated as others and I'm tired of me and my family being turned away for jobs that we are more than qualified for because most of these places have exceeded their color quota! We need some help!
