As in some other reports on this "company" I have read, I received 2 charges on my check card on 2/20/2003 - 4 days after receiving a replacement card with a new expiration date. These charges were from 4/20/2001!!

After spending over an hour talking to my bank and trying to find a number for them, I called the number only to encounter an iron-clad computer operated voice response system. Finally got through to an actual human after 2+ hours invested in this and was told the charges could be reversed in 2-3 billing cycles which equals 60-90 days! I really had to battle to get them to say they would reverse the charges; they only wanted to cancel the subscription.

This was from an internet offer for "A year free of your favorite magazine". At the end of the year, I did receive notices that my subscription needed to be renewed, which I never responded to. When I asked the "human" at Magazine Service Center about this, the reply was that unless you requested cancellation in writing, the magazines continued. When asked why it took 2 years for the charge to show, he had no answer.

Please watch out for this company! If anyone knows how to recover funds, please post this information! My husband passed away less than a year ago, followed by 8 months of unemployment, and I don't need this right now!

The legendary "BIG BROTHER" needs to get involved in this! The thing is, I've always been so careful about using my check card - I'm quite certain I never gave them this information! It's so suspicious that this happened immediately following re-opening my checking account and receiving a new card!
