Magazine source sounds like a great outlet to get some really good magazine but if you are willing to pay a 100% mark up for a bad magazine selection over a three year period than its a deal you are looking for.

I was contacted by magazine source saying that if i paid a low rate of 9.95 a month for 24 months i would be receiving a 5 year subscription for 12 magazines. After explaining all charges I thought gee what a great idea...WRONG..!!

What they fail to tell you is that you are doubling payments ie 9.95 by two or what ever they can scam you into. The more you disclose about how much you make the higher your rate is. I being 19 at the time made very little and my charge came to 18.83.

The service wasn't to bad, I received my magazines and figured that i hadn't listen to well so i ate the charges and decided to keep the magazines. 3 weeks later i get a call stating that since i had been such a loyal customer they were sending me a free magazine. (usa news)
You can imagine what it was like to hear the word free.. hmm i thought could this bed true i asked five times if i was going to be charge and each time i was told no. two days later i was charged 32.90.

After explaining what has happened the sales rep reversed the charges but i had to wait 2 weeks for a refund. Recently this december (12/15/02) i finally fulfilled my obligations with this company. One blurry morning I was roused from my sleep (i work nights) by a ringing phone magazine source calling to see how I enjoyed their service.

The first thing out of the mouth of the rep was I am new (in training) my name is jennifer let me start off by stating this is not a sales call. She started telling me about my magazine account and that i was nearing the end of my obligation that i was going to be doubled up on my payments to pay the remaining balance on my account.
Then i thought did i relaly agree to that so long ago? (i initally signed up in 2000) After i talked to the supervisor i inquired to why i wasn't charged the full amounts at the begining of my obligation. His answer well you were 19 at the time your a little older now and can afford to pay. They do that to insure that you can pay for your magazines.

I inquire is this a new account his reply oh not at all... After verifying my address and billing info he started asking a few more personal questions which to me felt to close like a credit check agreement? I agreed on the phone to pay the 29.90 over the phone thinking i was paying for the account that i had. After hanging up i called the magazine source 1 800 456-6565 and talked to a sales rep.

My suspicions had been confirmed my account was paid in full (12/15/02 i didn't know this prior to talking to the rep) i had no other obligations to this company. After explaining everything i went throught the sale rep told me "you just agreed to subscribe to our company again".... how could that be i was told i wasn't being sold a new subscription and that i was paying off an old account. If the rep had never fumbled on the phone by not being able to tell me how much i had left to pay on my account i would have been dupped again.

This company is very slick selling you a subscription that you don't know you are purchasing they got me once and almost got me twice and tried to make a three times a charm.. take it from me if you want a subscription contact the companies yourself because once you sign up you are stuck paying for a three year subscriptions for magazines that are late or don't come at all. in totals at 18.83 for three years i am out 677.8 and if i had not called the company back asking questions this time i would be out 1076.40 for another subscription i didn't want and couldn't cancel after 72 hours (yes thats all the time you get to cancel). Besides you can get a good three year subscription directly from a company for 12.95 a year or 6 months with big discounts for every year you agree to.

magazine source calling with an apology and more BULL!

AUTHOR: Billie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 23, 2003

Guess who called me the other day... Magazine source with a follow up with my order..!!!
Could it be those darning do-ers calling me back after i said i wasn't interested.. Yep it sure was..

I got a call two days ago during dinner with an apology call from magazine source about the magazines i ordered, said the voice on the phone.
I don't have a magazine order in i replied.
The voice speaks back its says here in the computer you have an order in and was misquoted a price... 39.90 and its suppose to be 29.99
Nope, i replied, but what happened was i called back and said i didn't want the services because i was mislead to believe that i was paying off an old account and i was lied to and.....

..............click the line went dead

Maybe now magazine source won't be calling me anymore since i pointed out the obvious..!!!!

You don't have to lie to get people to buy your products..!!!

THANKS RIP OFF REPORT FOR LETTING ME VENT..!!!
