Magic Jack Magic Jack After 3 years of service, they told me I had to pay extra , Internet

After 3 years of using Magic Jack they stopped letting me call local numbers in my town and the next one over. This is the chat I had with them regarding what happened to my once awesome phone service....

sasha: it says in order to call a conferance number go to some website
sasha: and its not a conferance website

sasha: the school
sasha: it wont call anymore
sasha: my mother in laws house
sasha: it use to let me before
sasha: i just want to be able to use my phone
Magda: may I know if you can call other local number?
sasha: i shouldn't have to pay more money to call numbers in the town i live in
sasha: it won't let me dial ANY local phone numbers

automatically says "to call a conferance line or a platform go to to buy prepaid minutes" it has NEVER asked me to
do that before this month.

sasha: that is what it is saying
sasha: but why do I have to pay extra money to call numbers I use to be able to use
sasha: they are numbers to my friends homes
sasha: and to loacl buisnesses

sasha: since when is somebodys home phone a conferance line?
Nigel: It's in our terms of service which states that "We
may provide for a fee, premium prepaid services, which may be powered
by YMAX Communications Corp. (YMAX), and may include some inbound,
international, conference, platform and outbound calls that receive a
recording and certain calls to non-ILEC areas, and the rates for those
services will be governed by listed price lists or tariffs. Charges may
apply to use the call forwarding feature, if available".
Nigel: It's something that our system automatically identifies.
sasha: why did it let me call these numbers for 3 years?
sasha: why did it just change?
We may require prepaid purchase and/or we may charge you for calls to
conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call
wherein we incur a cost from another carrier.
sasha: well
congratulations when it comes time to renew magic jack I wont do it, and
I wont recommend this product to anyone. In a matter of fact I am
posting this message where everyone can see it. Your product is is a rip off!
Nigel: When
you plug the magicJack into your computer for the first time you were
taken to the registration page to get a new number. On the third
screen/dialog box of the wizard you were asked to read the TOS article
entitled "magicJack Device and Software, Terms of Service and Software
License Agreement". It is impossible to proceed with the process and hit
next unless you checked on the box at the bottom that says "I have read
and agree to the Terms of Service." Activating a magicJack service
requires agreeing to the TOS, which you did.

After 3 years, they change their service to something unusable for me. They couldn't even answer my questions....
why did it let me call these numbers for 3 years?
why did it just change?

KEEP IN MIND: Their slogan is " free local and long distance phone calls" they now make you pay them for prepaid minutes to call local numbers.
