Magic Jack charges for some calls, even though the website still says ALL calls are free.  Here is the log from their support rep:

You are now chatting with 'Jaron'
Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK554089358512X
Jaron: Hello, how may I help you?
Shon: I am unable to make a local call to a friend. I receive the recording "to call a conference line or platform please contact us at my.majicjack.com to purchase prepaid minutes".
Jaron: Let me assist you with that.
Jaron: Can you please verify to me your phone and order number?
Shon: my phone number is 207-809-xxxx
Jaron: Thank you.
Shon: When I bought majic jack, I was told all local and long distant calls within the US were free.
Jaron: Can you please verify to me the customer name?
Shon: Shon T
Jaron: I am looking into this. It may take a few minutes. Please bear with me.
Jaron:
Jaron: Shon, can I also have your order number please?
Shon: I don't have it
Jaron: It's okay.
Jaron: One moment please...
Jaron: magicJack can call for FREE within the United States and Canada. However, since you've been prompted to purchase pre-paid minutes, the purchase will be necessary to complete the call. In some circumstances, we may require prepaid purchase or we may charge you for calls to conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier.
Jaron:
Shon: If my call is going to someone 1 mile away from me (within the US), why do I need to buy minutes?
Shon: It is someones home phone, and NOT a conference line.
Jaron: One moment please...
Shon: What percentage of calls do you incur a cost for? I was never told that I would be charged for local calls.
Jaron: As I've stated above, since you've been prompted to purchase pre-paid  minutes, the purchase will be necessary to complete the call.
Shon: How many calls will I be restricted from making?
Jaron: There is no specific number of calls for the IPP minutes, it depends on the rate.
Jaron: Is there anything else I may help you with today?
Shon: Do you have a list of carriers this applies to?
Jaron: Please wait while I check that for you
Jaron: Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of information here in our database.
Shon: It says  right on your website "Use our Phone Service for free, make all the free calls you please". Now you are charging me to make those calls. Can I return the hardware for a refund?
Shon: It doesn't say some of the calls are free. It says all of them are free. I want a refund.
