Today I returned my new MagicJack Plus device within hours of receiving it.

A few weeks back I received an email from MagicJack offering to upgrade my old device at a special rate and that the remaining time -- over three years -- would be added to the new device. Between the time I place the order and the new device was received, my old device and it's remaining time was deleted from my account.

As soon as I discovered that I went in to MJ Support and asked to have the device reinstated. They refused to do that unless I had the old device and could plug it in to the computer. The old device is 36 hours away. After having my problem escalated, the second Rep said to wait until the new device arrived and then go back to Support to have the remaining time added on.

The new device arrived today. I registered it and then went to Support to ask for remaining time from the old device to be added to the new device, as promised. They refused, gave me the run around, and finally escalated to one of their 'top10% in customer satisfaction' reps, Maya. After considerable more run around and trying to blame me for their problem, this rep cut me off. She even had the audacity to leave out the link for providing feedback which is normally at the end of their chat.

On my return to Support I asked for an RMA if they were not going to correct the situation. After a few minutes, this rep responded with a link to the returns page.

While I am venting I have to say I was unhappy with the purchase process. After I had agreed to the purchase price including the cost of shipping and accepted the order, MagicJack confirmed the order, added an additional charge which they attributed to a regulatory fee and also increased the price for shipping. I was never given an option to accept or reject the order with these additional charges.

The whole experience leave me with a 'bad taste' about MagicJack. In fact I have to wonder if the company isn't rushing towards bankruptcy and trying to scam as much as they can before they go down. I certainly will not be dealing with, or recommending them, ever again.
