USA Magazine Exchange RIPOFF - What A Scam. Billed but Never Sent Magazines Glendale Arizona

My mother had told me a while ago that she had received a phone call with a deal for magazine subscriptions that she signed up for. Since she is always being harrassed by solicitors and charities, I asked her the details, immediatly being concerned that she was getting ripped off. She tells me that she has to pay $54.97 A MONTH for a year to get 4 magazines sent to her for 4 years. I could not believe that she did not realize that she would be spending $600 for 4 magazines, including one that I receive myself, and pay $12 a year for.
After explaining that it is probably a scam, she called back and was only able to knock it down to 3 years/9 months of paying them $54.97 - thats still $495- outrageous- but she was fine with this, and received two of the four magazines for 2 years. One magazine is still coming, and the fourth, she received 4 or 5 issues, and that was it.

How can a company get away with this?? Calling people on the phone and tricking them into giving away their money, luring them with garbage jewelry that arrived broken. She just wants to receive the magazines that she paid for, and they can't even hold up THAT end of the bargain. She tried calling them and left 7 messages in the past 2 months, but of course no one has called her back. She sent them two letters, both of which were returned to her, Return to Sender.

She receives cancellation notices in the mail from them on the two magazines that she was receiving semi-regularly. Now, she does not receive them anymore. No way to contact the company to find out why. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THIS SCAM. Please talk with your parents and elderly loved ones about such scams out there, so that they dont give their money away to smooth talking telemarketers just looking to rip them off!!!
