On 8/17/09 I took my car to Main Autobody in Lebanon, Oregon for Insurance covered repairs. My Insurance Co. paid for the repairs by sending me a check, with instructions to pay the Body Shop. I received the check an deposited it in my personal bank account.

Angie at Main Autobody called me today and told me my car was done. I told her that The Insurance Co. had paid me and I had put the money in my personal account to pay them. Key Bank holds funds for 5 days on all checks including insurance checks. I told Angie I would give her a post dated check for 8/26 when I came in to pick up my car.

She told me that the 'owner' does not take personal checks nor does he take post dated checks.

This was NOT disclosed to me when I left the car there in any way shape or form. They refuse to give me my car back until I pay with a credit card or bank check. Apparently the 'owner' does not work there and only comes in once in a while. Same with the 'General Manager' who also 'pops in' now and then. No management whatsoever. They laugh at you when you ask.

Fortunately the Insurance company extended my car rental until I can get my own car back. This will, in all likely hood make my insurance premiums go up.

I am very distraught. Angie told me that I 'should have known' about their policy even though she did not tell me.

I am concerned that my car will be harmed or driven in the mean time.

This is TERRIBlE. They should tell you what the rules are up front instead of assuming you know what their policies are.

I will never recommend them to anyone. This has been a terrible inconvenience for me.

Main Auto Body and Paint in Lebanon, Albany, and Corvallis Oregon are to be avoided ! Bad Company to do Business with.

AUTHOR: Tattletale - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, August 22, 2009

There is no one at any of these locations that will help a customer with a problem. They avoid going in so that you will have no one to complain to.

They have 'policies' about no personal checks but those policies are not written or posted. They make them up as they go along and refuse to discuss it with you. I am going to take a good look at my car when I get it back this week and if they screwed up the work they will have to do it over again.

I reported them to the Oregon Attorney General's office and to the Better Business Bureau. on line, and have confirmation of case numbers. If they don't respond to those they will be in trouble!
